Once A Riddler Now A Ruler Answers
In Final Fantasy XIV, there are very few quests that trip up players thanks to the markers on the map. But for one Dawntrail side quest, players are warned that there won't be much guidance in the form of directions.
"Once a Riddler, Now a Ruler" is unlike the large majority of quests in the game. This optional adventure begins with a note that "guidance from the journal, duty list, and map will be limited. You will need to read the text carefully and decipher the clues to determine your course of action."
How to Solve Once A Riddler, Now A Ruler
The quest begins in Tuliyollal at X: 15.3 Y: 6.3 and is given by the Nostalgic Attendant. They tell you of a treasure in the city, and you'll need to follow Vow Koana's hints to be able to find it.

If you want to solve the quest line for yourself, read the clues and use your knowledge of Tuliyollal to figure out the location. Each clue can be read by clicking on the letter next to the title of the quest in your list, or by using the Worn Envelope in your key items inventory.

First Riddle
"A great hall rests upon buried shells of old, where palm trees tower over sands gleaming gold."
The "great hall" this clue is referring to is Xbalyav Ty'e, which is the same location where all of the role quests can be found. On the west side of the building, search out the mentioned palm trees in the sand. You'll find a glowing spot with question marks over it. Interact with it to pick up the second clue. If you're still lost, the coordinates are X: 11.7, Y: 14.5.
Second Riddle
"Weathered planks creak, quietly guiding the way, to a verdant bed of green washed with sea spray."
The second riddle is likely what will trip most people up. The part of the map it sends you to is one of the farthest reaches of the city. The weathered planks this riddle points to might give you the idea that a dock is involved, but there are several docks in Tuliyollal and none of them seem to reference the verdant bed of green it speaks of.
To find the next spot, look to the cabanas stretched out into the sea, and at the very end of that dock is a planter with all sorts of greenery in it. On the south side of that planter is the next clue. For those looking for the coordinates, you'll find this one at X: 10.2, Y: 21.9. There is also a vista here if you've unlocked your sightseeing log.

Third Riddle
"A thoroughfare worn smooth speaks of journeys come to end—reason and resolve, set in stone, with duty contend."
This part of the riddle isn't too hard to understand if you've finished Dawntrail's MSQ. The stone part of the riddle points players to the lines of stones telling the Dawnservant's story. Behind one of them is the area you're looking for.
Look for the Morrow's Measure point-of-interest for this one. The stone you're looking for is the farthest northeast. Behind it, find the spot to pick up the green imitation ring, then head back to the Nostalgic Attendant. This one is very easy to miss, so keep your eyes peeled. If you're having trouble, head to X: 10.9, Y: 13.2.

Whether you enjoy deciphering riddles on your own, or just like to rid the map of all yellow quests, this certainly is one of the more unique adventures FFXIV has set players on.
