How to Catch Marbled Hatchetfish
With the release of Final Fantasy XIV's newest expansion, Dawntrail, comes a whole new region to explore. There are new zones, new characters, and new quests, some of which require players to seek out elusive items, like the Marbled Hatchetfish. This guide contains all the info you need to get a Marbled Hatchetfish in FFXIV, including where to get the best bait to catch it.
How to Get Marbled Hatchetfish in FFXIV
While we have a detailed walkthrough below, follow these quick steps to catch a Marbled Hatchetfish in FFXIV:
- Unlock the Urqopacha region of Yok Tural in FFXIV Dawntrail.
- Go to the Sunken Stars pond, northeast of Vorlar's Echo.
- Equip your Fisher (FSH) class.
- Use either a Versatile Lure or Silkmoth Pupa to catch a Marbled Hatchetfish.
Marbled Hatchetfish can be found in Urqopacha in FFXIV, one of the first regions you'll explore in Yok Tural. Northwest of Worlar's Echo, you can find a small pond labeled Sunken Stars containing the fish. We caught the fish using a Versatile Lure, but the Marbled Hatchetfish's preferred bait is Silkmoth Pupa.
Luckily, this bait can be purchased from various vendors across Urqopacha, including the Independent Merchant standing at the north gate of Wachunpelo.
What is Marbled Hatchetfish?
In-game Description: "According to Yok Huy myth, this wavekin was once a mighty warrior's axe, transformed by its wielder's grief."
Marbled Hatchetfish is a fish that can be found in Tural. It has a weak (!) bite and can be found using a Versatile Lure or Silkworm Pupa as bait.
How to Use Marbled Hatchetfish in FFXIV
Currently, it appears that Marbled Hatchetfish can only be used for Desynthesis and on a small canvas. Materials like Fine Sand can be acquired through desynthesis, which can be used in turn for crafting aquariums.
