How to Craft Tinctures

Final Fantasy XIV’s latest expansion, Dawntrail, has released and with it comes over a hundred new craftable recipes. These can be used to create countless useful or desirable items, but one of the most coveted items for hardcore players are tinctures. This guide has all the info you need to create the latest round of the helpful consumables, including where to find the ingredients to make them.

What are Tinctures?

With the release of Dawntrail’s Extreme Trials and the upcoming Savage Raids, tinctures are an invaluable resource for any player. These consumables grant a boost to one of their stats for a short window of time, perfect for giving your burst windows that extra damage to successfully defeat Dawntrail’s toughest challenges.

What You Need to Get Started

The hardest part of crafting tinctures - called Gemdraughts at the current tier - is having your Alchemist, Botanist and Miner classes at level 100, otherwise you’ll have to purchase your tinctures or the ingredients to make them. You'll also need to make some story progress so you can access the fifth zone in Dawntrail. If you’ve done that, then you simply need to gather the ingredients which we’ve listed below.

Tincture Recipes

There are five different Gemdraughts you can create, which boost Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Vitality or Mind. Thankfully, the recipes are largely the same for each variety with the exception of a single ingredient, which differs between each recipe.

Axe Beak Wing x 2	Gathered as a drop from killing Axe Beaks in southeast Heritage Found or purchased for Bicolor Gemstones in The Outskirts (X:16.3 Y:9.6)
Sunglit Aethersand x 1	Purchased from Scrip Exchange Vendors for 100 Orange Scrips or by using Aetherial Reduction on Electrocoal (Miner), Goldbranch (Botanist), Sunlit Prism (Fishing), Shovelnose Catfish (Fishing), or Horned Frog (Fishing)*
Sanctified Water x 2	Made from an Alchemist Recipe; requires Yak T'el Spring Water and Tumbleclaw Weeds
Yak T'el Spring Water x 2	Gathered in Yak T'el, in the area north of Iq Br'aax; requires Mining
Tumbleclaw Weeds x 2	Obtained as a drop from killing Tumbleclaws in southeast Shaaloani or purchased for Bicolor Gemstones in Hhusatahwi (X:28.6 Y:30.9)

*While Aetherial Reduction is an efficient way to gather Sunglit Aethersand, it requires a larger investment to be able to gather the eligible resources, so we recommend simply buying any Sunglit Aethersand from the Scrip Exchange Vendor in Tuliyollal (X:16.3, Y:11.1) or Solution Nine (X:9.1, Y:13.3).

The final ingredient depends on which Gemdraught you’re making. All of these ingredients require a high level Botanist to gather:
