How to Start a Fire

Starting a Fire Using Flint
The most basic way for Link to start a fire is using flint. You’ll need to place a piece of flint next to a bundle of wood, then strike it with a metallic or stony weapon.
Flint is a common item found throughout the Kingdom of Hyrule and can be found in a few different ways. You can obtain it by venturing into caves to mine ore deposits, and sometimes you can find it conveniently lying around near unlit cooking pots.
To obtain a bundle of wood, chop down a tree with a bladed weapon and continue chopping the fallen log until it produces a bundle of wood.
You should have a variety of metal and stony weapons to choose from in your inventory, any of which will work to strike the flint. Your basic Rusty Sword will do just fine. You could also fuse a rock to the end of a tree branch to create a stone hammer that will work.
Once you have all three items ready, go to your Materials screen, hold both wood and flint, then exit the screen and drop them on the ground. Alternatively, you can press Up on the D-Pad to open a shortcut to your Materials and drop both the wood and flint on the ground from there.
Finally, swing your metallic or stony weapon of choice to strike the flint and create a campfire.
Starting a Fire Using Weapons
There are other ways to start a fire in Tears of the Kingdom that don't use flint. Several weapons produce fire and can be used, as well. For example, fuse Fire Fruit to one of your arrows and shoot it at a bundle of wood, or fuse the Zonai Flame Emitter (aka flamethrower) to a shield or weapon and attack with it to produce a stream of fire. If a weapon produces flame or an explosion, there’s a pretty good chance you can use it to start a fire.
