Where to Find the Light Dragon
The mysterious Light Dragon in Tears of the Kingdom is the newest addition to the dragons that roam the skies of Hyrule. However, unlike the three returning dragons, the Light Dragon not only flies around a set area but circles the entirety of Hyrule's skies. A majestic gold and jade creature, it also flies at a much higher altitude than the other dragons and has healing properties. This page will guide you through the multiple ways you can find the Light Dragon in TotK, including the quests you must complete and the dragon's flying path throughout Hyrule.
Spoiler Warning
Follow the main story walkthrough and you'll eventually be put on the path to find the Light Dragon! It's the first dragon you see in the intro title screen, and you'll meet it again eventually.
Besides the valuable dragon parts you can use for elixirs and infusions, the Light Dragon is also the location of Tap to Reveal.

How to Find the Light Dragon's Location
The most straightforward way of finding the Light Dragon's path and locating the Master Sword is by completing these two main quests:
The Dragon's Tears can be completed once you've visited all 11 geoglyphs and witnessed all the memories in the Dragon's Tears. Afterward, the Light Dragon will shed a new tear that fell to the Rist Peninsula in the Akkala region.
Witnessing the 12th Tear of the Dragon memory will lower its flying height from around 1500-2200 meters to 700-800 meters, making it easier to use the Skyview Towers to glide above the dragon.
Recovering the Hero's Sword is a quest you can activate after reaching the Korok Forest and helping the Deku Tree defeat Phantom Ganon. This main quest will mark the Light Dragon's path on your map.
Light Dragon Path
- If the quest is active on your Adventure Log, you'll always see the Light Dragon's current location.
How to Get on the Light Dragon
Now that you have what it takes to get on the Light Dragon easily, you'll just have to fast-travel to the nearest Skyview Tower, launch yourself, and land atop its body.
Fast-traveling won't affect the location of any dragons in Tears of the Kingdom, making it the best shortcut tool to get on top of them. However, the other three dragons have an elemental base on their body, so be sure to have the proper resistance armor or food before landing on them.
- Note that compared to the other three dragons' 30-minute loop, the Light Dragon takes around two real-time hours to complete its path around the map.
Once you've landed on the Light Dragon, reach the top of its head and interact with the Master Sword.
Keep in mind that grabbing the Master Sword from the dragon will complete the Recovering the Hero's Sword main quest and remove the Light Dragon's path marker from your map.
If you'd like to farm more of the Light Dragon's materials, we recommend taking out Link's Master Sword later in the game, as the marker is handy for finding the Light Dragon's current location.
