How to Bomb Jump
Bomb jumping is a niche but helpful mechanic to know in Tears of the Kingdom, as it can help you fly great distances or reach an otherwise difficult terrain without climbing or expending your Zonai Devices.
This guide will quickly cover how to bomb jump in Tears of the Kingdom, including where to find the necessary components.
How to Bomb Jump
Though the Remote Bomb is no longer in the game, that doesn't mean you can no longer do a bomb jump. In fact, bomb jumping is a lot easier and safer to maneuver this time around.
To bomb jump, you'll need these three things:
- Fuse ability
- Bomb Flowers
- A Shield
Bomb Flowers can be found across many caves in Hyrule, but if you don't have any, a chest atop a rock pillar in Lake Kilsie (northwest of Rito Village) contains x5 Bomb Flowers inside.
You'll first need to hold the Bomb Flower from your inventory and toss it on the ground. Then with the Fuse ability, combine the bomb flower with the shield you have equipped by pressing ZL.
Once you have the Bomb-Flower Shield, the only thing you need to do now is shield surf on a flat surface. Follow these steps to shield surf:
- Hold out your shield by pressing and holding ZL
- Jump with X
- Press A while midair to surf your shield
When the Bomb Flower hits the ground, the explosion will propel you to the sky in the direction that you're facing. You can then glide to cover the rest of the distance.
- Be sure to give yourself a running head start for more space. If the explosion is too close to a wall, you'll take damage and lose control of Link.
- Bomb jumping will also reduce your shield's durability, so use one you don't want to keep.
