Dispelling Darkness Medal

The Dispelling Darkness Medal is one of the more confusing Key Items that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has to offer, as it does not appear to have much of a purpose aside from standing as a reminder of your accomplishments in-game. This item can be obtained just once as it commemorates a player's achievement, that is, of having lit up each of the many Lightroots within The Depths.

How to Get Dispelling Darkness Medal

The first thing that you are going to need to do before setting off to obtain the Dispelling Darkness Medal is ensure you understand what Lightroots are and how they work. Every Shrine found above-ground has a Lightroot located directly underneath it within The Depths. Each of these Lightroots is also named identically to its Shrine counterpart, albeit with its name spelled backwards.

The key to getting the Dispelling Darkness Medal requires you to find and light every single one of those 120 Lightroots. While this is indeed quite the grind, once you have lit each Lightroot you will finally obtain the Dispelling Darkness Medal as an award for having done so. Brightbloom Seeds and Giant Brightbloom Seeds will come in handy while exploring The Depths, so we do recommend stocking up on them before setting out.

You can find the Dispelling Darkness Medal within your Key Items tab in your inventory, where the item's description reads, "An award for one who has conquered the darkness by lighting up every lightroot. This special item commemorates blessings received."
