The Westerlands

The Westerlands is the westernmost main region of Westeros, north of The Reach and west of the Riverlands. ?Ruled by House Lannister in their seat in?Casterly Rock, it is the richest region in the Seven Kingdoms. The Lannisters and their bannerman control the gold and silver mines and the largest deposits of other metals in Westeros.

Due to their prosperity, the Westerlands have a large number of formidable and proud knights and man-at-arms. Despite the region's small size, the amount of wealth in the mountains, hills, and valleys of the area means their armies are given the finest quality of equipment and training. It is a common saying that "A Lannister always pays his debts". Lord Tywin Lannister has complete control over his bannermen, who are unquestionably loyal.?
