Things V Rising Doesn't Tell You

So whether it's tips for keeping horses alive, completing quests to progress in the game, or using specific weapons to effectively gather resources, these handy tips are aimed at making your early game experience not only much smoother but also more enjoyable.

Quests are Essential to Your Progression
Quests are essential to your progress and will unlock vital mechanics and features such as castles, abilities, and key building fundamentals that you'll need to progress in the game such as the Blood Altar to hunt V Bloods, and Walls and Structures to make your base more secure from rival vampire clans and the scorching sun.
Speed Up Resource Gathering by Using the Correct Tools
Resources taking a while to obtain? Speed up the process of gathering resources by using the correct tools.
- Swords have a greater effect on vegetation and thickets.
- Axes have a greater effect on wood.
- Maces have a greater effect on minerals and rocks.
In addition, you can speed up the process of gathering resources by positioning yourself between multiple resource types. For example, if you position yourself close enough to a stone wall and tree, you may be able to take out both resources while swinging your tool.
Horses Won't Survive Without Proper Care
While exploring Vardoran, the chances are you have likely stumbled upon a horse and formed a bond with the friendly four-legged creature, only to later find out that it has perished under your watch.
If that's the case, you'd be easily forgiven as V Rising doesn't explain that horses require some basic care to survive. So in order for horses to survive under your supervision, you'll need to keep them hydrated with Water-filled Canteens.

To obtain canteens, you'll need to have earnt the recipe by defeating Keely the Forst Archer. Once the canteen is crafted, fill them up by using them on a liquid source such as a river, lake, well, or fountain. Now that you have filled the canteen, store them in the horse's inventory and if you stored quite a few, it'll be set for quite some time.
Horses also have individual stats such as Max Speed, Acceleration, and Rotation Speed. While you won't always find drastic changes between each individual horse, it's always worth checking your options when you have the choice to be selective.
Start Gathering Resources Early in Preparation for Building Important Structures
As you progress in the game and unlock new items to craft, you'll notice that your resources will quickly begin to disappear as production costs begin to soar, so get a head start by gathering as many resources as possible early on. It won't take long for your inventory to begin to fill up with materials, so craft some storage containers to help free up space and keep your items safe and secure.
Destroy Your Surrounding Environments for Key Materials
When exploring the likes of abandoned farms, you'll come across scarecrows. Destroying these will at times reward you with Plant Fibres and Planks. What's handy about this is that Planks are normally only available after being refined at a Sawmill. So gathering these resources early will help you build a healthy stack, as the likes of planks are a heavily required material.
Loot Slain Enemies for Passive Resources
As you travel the many roads of Vardoran, you'll often come across loot from fallen enemies that NPCs or fellow players have slain. This is often an easy way to collect essential resources during your travels passively.

Avoid the Northern Regions When First Starting Out
When first starting out, it is highly recommended that you avoid traveling too far into the northern regions as the further you travel, the more challenging enemies and V Bloods will become. With that said, if you're looking to gather resources, traveling to the northern regions with the sole purpose of unlocking Waygates and Cave Passages is definitely recommended as these will help expand the areas you can explore.
Explore Settlements and Trade Merchants, But Only After Unlocking Human Form
As you begin to explore Vardoran, you'll likely encounter traveling merchants along the roads of Farbane Woods and Dunley Farmlands. Unfortunately, these merchants are hostile when attempting to trade them in Vampire form.
Instead, you'll need to activate Human Form, which is only available after defeating the level 38 V Blood carrier, Beatrice the Tailor. When Human Form is activated, you'll be able to sneak around unnoticed in human settlements.
Don't Forget to Store Your Resources Before Adventuring into the Open World
Before leaving your Castle, remember to deposit your items in storage chests. Not only will you lose your hard-earned resources in PvP but traveling back to obtain your items from your grave can quickly become quite the hassle as Vampire Waygates cannot be used to fast travel when carrying resources.
Plan Your Days Around the Evening Hours

While it's not always possible, try to gather resources and explore Vardoran mostly during the night hours. This is a great way to avoid the dreaded sunlight, which can make navigating during the day quite difficult. For this reason, we recommend spending the majority of your day managing your castle and working towards building reinforced walls, as you'll then be protected from the sunlight whilst inside your castle.
If you happen to get caught out during the day, don't panic and simply make your way back to your castle by traveling between shadows cast on the ground. As the day-night cycle is dynamic, you'll need to be wary of the ever-changing shadows, so make sure to utilize your travel ability to make those dashes between shadows much safer.
Lessen the Effects of the Sun with Potions and Armor
While there's no complete protection from the sun, potions and certain crafting structures can be used to create equipment that provides increased resistance to elements such as the sun, garlic, silver, fire, and holy. These can be incredibly handy to keep on your character safe when searching for resources around camps and farms as you never know what you might stumble upon.
In order to craft potions, you'll need to defeat Clive the Firestarter, who will reward you with the blueprint necessary to craft an Alchemy Table. While the Tailoring Bench, which is unlocked after defeating Quincy the Bandit King, can be used to craft armor and cloaks that further increase your resistance to elements.
Use Vampire Powers to Transform into Different Creatures
Unlocking different Vampire Powers such as the Bear Form and Wolf Form can significantly increase your resistance to certain elements, while also increasing your movement speed. This can make traveling the paths of Vardoran safer but also easier during daylight.

Not only will these transformations make life easier, but forms such as the Bear allow you to turn into powerful creatures that are able to destroy massive resources. In addition, the Bear also features a powerful buff that allows you to reduce your damage taken, making it ideal for taking on some of the tougher enemies you'll face in the northern regions.
While the Bat Form is unlocked after defeating one of the toughest enemies in the game, Nightmarshal Styx the Sunderer (76), this form is the most ideal for traversing Vardoran as it allows you to fly high into the air, crossing over large hills and bodies of water with ease.
See our complete guide on All Vampire Powers and Abilities to learn more on how to unlock these unique transformations.
Don't Get Caught Off Guard, Enemies Have Large Roaming Patterns
When exploring human settlements such as Farms, be wary of roaming guards that will occasionally check in on the premise. If you are caught by these patrolling guards, they'll be alerted to your location and will actively pursue and attempt to kill you, so keep your eyes peeled to avoid being caught off guard.
Hide in Hale Bales to Avoid Being Seen
Caught out in the sun or need a place to hide from enemies? Approach the piles of hay that you'll often find within fields to hide inside of them.
Don't Stray Too Far From V Blood Carries and Enemies

Avoid running too far away from V Blood carriers and enemies as once they leave your screen, their health will be replenished to full. However, do note that while certain enemies and V Blood carriers will follow you for a certain distance, they will eventually return to their main roaming area, which will also see them returning to full health.
Don't Forget To Repair Your Armor and Weapons
Before leaving your Castle or engaging in combat, be sure to investigate both your weapons and armor for any durability issues. If they're running low, it's best to repair them to ensure they are always performing to the best of their ability, especially when exploring.
How to Repair Your Armor and Weapons
Repairing your armor in V Rising is fairly straightforward as all you need to do is access your Character tab and hover over the weapon or armor piece you are wanting to repair. When hovering over an item in your inventory, use the information box that appears to find a stat called Durability. If the item is not at 100%, you can repair the item by pressing the middle mouse button (scroll wheel), should you have the required resources needed to repair it.
Be a Master of All Weapons and Abilities
Utilize all of your weapons during combat as sticking to just one weapon type will leave you at a disadvantage. Performing combinations and switching from your close-range Axes and Mace to the likes of your Crossbow and Magic abilities will allow you to attack enemies from afar, especially those that have quite powerful close-range attacks such as Bandits, Bears, Treants, and Golems that you may not be fully equipped to handle when starting out.
While it's always nice to try and cheese enemies from afar, just note that there is a point at which these attacks will not register. A general rule to follow is that if the magic ability is not in range, your crossbow will not reach or damage the enemy either.
Avoid Waygate Traveling Limitations by Using Cave Passages
In addition to Vampire Waygates, Cave Passages are another method that can be used to fast travel across the regions of Vardoran. What differentiates the two methods is that Cave Passages allow you to fast travel with resources and loot in your inventory, which cannot be done with Vampire Waygates.

To find Cave Passages, look for glowing red cracks found on the side of rock walls. Then, press and hold F to travel through the cave system when nearing the glowing gap.
