Mushroom Kingdom Hidden Treasures
There are 3 Hidden Treasure Chests located in the Mushroom Kingdom Area.
Hidden Treasure Chest 1
The first of many secrets can be found right as you enter the castle, but luckily things will be much easier than the original SNES game. Toad will run towards the far door at the end of the hall, and you will have a chance to jump on his head and use it to springboard up to a platform above the far doorway. Up here you can jump up to reveal a Hidden Treasure Chest holding a Frog Coin, which is an important currency.
If you’re playing on the SNES version, this is your only chance to reach the hidden treasure, so you’ll need to reload your save if you miss it. Luckily, in the Super Mario RPG Remake, the hall will fill with a few wandering Toads later to let you attempt the jump later.
Hidden Treasure Chest 2
In the basement of the Mushroom Kingdom’s Item Shop, talk to the old Toad who will tell you “stand before me” and turn to face the clock on the wall. Stand directly in front of his gaze and talk to him again to be told to jump. Do so, and you’ll unveil a Hidden Treasure Chest with a Flower inside. You’ll be told of how these Hidden Treasures work, and in the Super Mario RPG Remake, you’ll also be given the Signal Ring Accessory that alerts you if a hidden treasure is in your current area.
Hidden Treasure Chest 3
In the same basement room of the Mushroom Kingdom’s Item Shop, the old Toad you talk to here that helps you find a Hidden Treasure will give you the Signal Ring in the Super Mario RPG Remake. You might notice that it’s still going off in the basement. You can find a second Hidden Treasure by waiting for the old Toad to wander to the far right corner of the room by the foot of the stairs, jumping on him, and jumping up to get another Flower.
Bandit's Way Hidden Treasures
There is only 1 Hidden Treasure Chest in the Bandit's Way Area.
Hidden Treasure Chest 4
In the second area of Bandit’s Way, when you reach the far plateau on the right side of the yellow block bridge, hop off the right onto another red flower, and look for a purple flower to the right. Aim your jump off the red flower directly right, and you’ll jump high to uncover a Hidden Treasure that holds Croaka Cola - a special full recovery item for the entire party: save it for a tough fight!
Rose Town Hidden Treasures
There are 2 Hidden Treasure Chests in the Rose Town Area.
Hidden Treasure Chest 5
The far north house in Rose Town that you need to jump up to off the Toad’s head to enter has a secret chest hiding inside. Up on the second floor bedroom, start jumping on the bed in the left corner to reveal a Hidden Treasure and claim the Frog Coin.
Hidden Treasure Chest 6

Hidden Treasure Chest 10
Also in the large forest clearing with the seven hollow stumps leading to underground caves, take the middle stump on the bottom row to a cave that may or may not be empty, and head just a bit north and to the left by the cave wall to jump and find a Hidden Treasure…. But it’s empty.
Hidden Treasure Chest 11
In the large forest clearing with the seven hollow stumps leading to underground caves, take the farthest stump that sits between the two rows at the very edge to find a sleeping Wiggler. Move behind it at the top northeastern section of the cave and jump up to reveal a Hidden Treasure with a Croaka Cola inside.
Hidden Treasure Chest 12
Exclusive to the Super Mario RPG Remake, this Hidden Treasure can be found just before the boss arena after following Geno through the Lost Woods Maze. From the Save Point, head south down to a small alcove, and jump around near the southern tip to find a Hidden Treasure with a Red Essence.
