The item, initially revealed by various data miners (though by our best estimate TheGameFilesGurus were the first), has now been added to the game by Rockstar. It is available after taking on Bounty Hunting jobs from Maude and can be unlocked in Red Dead Redemption 2 by completing a challenge in GTA Online.

When the Bounty Hunt update goes live, players will receive a text from Maude Eccles - accept her missions and once you complete 5 Bounty Hunt missions you will receive the location of the Stone Hatchet.

How to Unlock the Stone Hatchet in Red Dead 2

After finding the Stone Hatchet, players can unlock the item in Red Dead 2 by achieving 25 kills with the Stone Hatchet - this is made easier by the weapon's Rampage ability, which offers a short window of invincibility after kills, which can be chained to extend the effect.
