GTA 5 Xbox One, PS4 and PC Differences
GTA 5’s new release on Xbox One, PS4, and PC differs from the original Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Grand Theft Auto V. Beyond the enhanced graphics, new Vehicles, Weapons, Collectibles, Bonus Cash, and more are coming. Huge new Races and Deathmatches are also planned to GTA Online, which will support up to 30 simultaneous players on the Xbox One / PS4 / PC platforms.
The changes listed below aren’t the only ones coming in the new version of Grand Theft Auto 5, so check back soon for more announcements.

Updates for Xbox One, PS4 and PC
Alongside the visual overhaul that will come with the upgraded release of GTA5, content additions will also be present for new and returning players. So far, Rockstar has announced the following updates for all players
- Increased player cap in GTA Online
Grand Theft Auto Online can now support up to 30 players on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
- Monkey Mosaics
Players who find and photograph all this simian-themed graffiti will earn new ape outfits for their characters to wear. Returning players also earn an exclusive reward.
First-Person Mode
Players can now experience Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online from a first-person perspective. It includes new animations and controls that have the potential to make GTA an exlusively first-person game (aside from cutscenes and some cinematic gameplay events).
First Person Controls
First person mode in GTA 5 significantly alters game play. Controls respond much more like a traditional FPS. Players are given a choice between assisted aim and free aim modes, and Online players are pooled by which setting they opt into. Thus, free aiming online combatants will play against and with other free-aiming players.
Each of these two modes can be further tweaked:
- Assisted Aim – Full: Traditional instant GTA 5 targeting
- Assisted Aim – Partial: Short lock-on period
- Free Aim – Assisted: Brief initial lock on and under-the-hood aim assistance.
- Free Aim: No lock on.

Players may switch at the touch of a button between first and third person control modes. Additionally, a large number of situation presets are available which automatically switch the camera when certain conditions are met. These options are fully customizable.
For example, if a player wants to automatically shift from first-person shooting to third-person perspective when taking cover, and back to first when taking a shot, that configuration can be easily preset.
Complete first-person toggles:
- On-foot - 1st or 3rd
- Cover - 1st or 3rd
- Driving - 1st or 3rd
- Ragdoll - 1st or 3rd
An option also exists to disable head-bobbing in first-person. Field of view is also adjustable in first person control mode. The mini-map also shifts perspective a bit toward first-person when operating in first-person mode.
Control schemes are adjustable, with remappings more in line with traditional FPS control schemes aside from GTA V's original 3rd person controls. Run, for example, may be remapped from a face button to the L3 stick. Push-button grenades are also available.
First Person in Vehicles
Vehicles each have individually mapped, high-resolution interiors, with working gauges and radio displays. Perspective includes passengers sitting alongside (Chop, for example, animates in the passenger seat when taken along for a ride). Players automatically don filtered helmets when entering certain vehicles.
First person driving drops perspective to eye level through the windshield, and can be switched on the fly at the touch of a button between 1st and several traditional 3rd person driving modes.
Pre-Order Bonus Cash
Any player who pre-orders GTA 5 for PS4, Xbox One or PC will receive a million dollars of in-game cash as a pre-order bonus. $500,000 will be available in GTA 5’s Story Mode, and another $500,000 will be available in GTA Online.

Take note that the cash add-on for Single-player mode can only be given to ONE character only! So if you prefer Michael to have the $500,000, then don't download the Money Bundle until you have control of Michael.
There will be a lot of new things to buy with that new cash, including several new Vehicles and Weapons.
Exclusives for Returning Players
In a press release on 10/18/2014, Rockstar announced a slew of exclusive content that will appear in the PS4 / Xbox One / PC editions of GTA 5 that will be available only to player who purchased the game on PS3 or Xbox 360.
New Events and Rewards
Several new open-world encounters will be added for returning players. According to Rockstar, by completing these challenging events players can unlock The classic Dodo seaplane and the Imponte Duke O’ Death armored muscle car (which bears a more-than-passing resemblance to a certain Kurt Russell movie classic).
New Single-Player Missions
A new murder mystery takes Michael down a film noir trail in search of a killer. Solving the mystery unlocks a grainy film filter for use in Story Mode.

New Stock Car Races allow players to unlock and acquire new Muscle Cars.
Lastly, Franklin can use a camera to capture images of all the new Animals scattered around Los Santos. Completing this task unlocks a new submersible, the Kraken Sub.
New Vehicles
The Cheval Marshall monster truck, Xero Blimp, and a number of other GTA-series returning Vehicles round out the new roster.
New Weapons
Two new Weapons are coming to GTA5: a Hatchet and an experimental Rail Gun. Yes, an electromagnetic high-velocity science-fiction Rail Gun. New shooting range challenges will also be available for the new Rail Gun.
New Collectibles
New animal species and artwork scattered around the city now wait to be discovered by intrepid explorers.

Returning players who find and photograph all of the Monkey Mosaics (simian-themed graffiti scattered around San Andreas) we be rewarded with the Go Go Monkey Blista vehicle, in addition to the monkey costumes available to all players.
New Online Modes
New Online events support a maximum number of 30 players for Deathmatches and Races.
As previously announced, all GTA Online characters will transfer cross-platform, meaning a PS3 player will have the option to move their character to PS4 or Xbox One
New Upgrades @ Los Santos Customs
One brand new feature at LS Customs is the Neon Lights option. This option is found under the LIGHTS section of the Menu and adds neon lights under any car for a special glowing effect. The Lights can be installed at the front and/or back of a vehicle.
All of the added LS Customs features from previous updates on the PS3/X360 are also available.
Cell Phone Chatter via PS4 DualShock
All cellphone calls taken in any vehicle will result in the conversation happening via the PS4 DualShock speaker. For example, during the Franklin and Lamar mission, Franklin will speak on his cellphone as usual but all of Lamar's dialogue can only be heard on the DualShock.

E3 News
On June 9, 2014, Sony announced that Grand Theft Auto 5 will be coming to PS4 in fall of 2014. Early footage reveals improved graphics, but more surprisingly, Sony promises GTA 5 players will be able to import their GTA Online progress from both PS3 and Xbox 360 saves.
The same evening, Rockstar announced that GTA 5 was coming to Xbox One and PC, also in the fall.
Online character progress will transfer between platforms and that the game will include a new video editor function. Cheats from the current versions of GTA V will also carry over to the Xbox One, PS4 and PC versions of the game.
