Air Trafficking Missions
Air Trafficking is a Hobby & Pastime for Trevor in IGN's Grand Theft Auto 5 Walkthrough. This guide will highlight the main mission strategies and Gold Medal requirements needed to complete every main story mission. Check out more of IGN's GTA5 Walkthrough for info on Cheats, Easter Eggs, Strangers and Freaks and a lot more.
Air Trafficking missions are unlocked once Trevor purchases the McKenzie Airfield. The missions consist of mainly flying a Cuban 800 plane and doing drop-offs or bombing rival runners. Unlike the Ground missions, there is no need for Trevor to defend himself. Each successful mission nets you a hefty $7000 payment!
The only difference here is that if Trevor misses certain drop zones too many times or wastes the bombs, the mission is an instant FAILURE and you must start the mission over again (no checkpoints at all).
100% COMPLETION NOT NEEDED
Completing Air Trafficking missions are NOT necessary for 100% Completion (though purchasing the Airfield will count towards the "Purchase 5 Properties" requirement).
AIR TRAFFICKING #1: SPECIAL DELIVERY
For this mission, Trevor must deliver TWO packages to the designated drop zones indicated on the map. When he reaches the drop zone, you'll see yellow smoke. Fly in close and drop the package in the yellow zone on the radar. It should be fairly easy to do, so DO IT!
Deliver both packages and the fly back to the hangar to complete the mission.
AIR TRAFFICKING #2: ANOTHER SPECIAL DELIVERY
This mission is the same as the first one, only Trevor needs to deliver THREE packages to designated drop zones indicated on the map.
The only requirement here is that Oscar requires Trevor to stay under the radar, which means FLY LOW! Deliver all three packages and then fly back to the hangar to complete the mission.
AIR TRAFFICKING #3: DROPPING DIRTY BOMBS
For this mission, Trevor is required to drop missiles on his competition by doing flyovers. There are FOUR runners to kill so get to it!
Don't fly too low or else you might hit the plane on a tree or telephone pole! The red drop zone for the bomb is smaller than yellow drop zone, so be sure to drop a bomb when you are within the center of the red zone to make a clean hit.
If you make a precise hit, you'll be treated to a nice cinematic of the runners getting blown up. Kill all four runners and then fly back to the hangar to complete the mission.
AIR TRAFFICKING #4: DROPPING MORE DIRTY BOMBS
This mission is just like the previous one except Trevor needs to only eliminate TWO targets. The first target is a moving train, so fly in close and drop the bomb above it.
The second target are a gang of speedboats just off of Raton Canyon. When you reach the area, fly under the bridge and drop the bomb from above their heads for the easy kill. Once that's done fly the plane back to the hangar to complete the mission.
AIR TRAFFICKING #5: CARPET BOMB
For this mission, Trevor needs to eliminate all the enemies that are at his airfield using the carpet bomb method. This mission is easily the most frustrating of all the Air missions simply because the timing of dropping the bombs needs to be precise.
When you fly to the Sandy Shores airfield, there will be THREE groups of vehicles lined up diagonally. Trevor needs to align the plane in the direction that the vehicles are facing and then drop the carpet bombs as he flies past them.
Timing for the carpet bombing is super tricky but as long as you can align the plane in the directions of the vehicles and then drop the bomb on the first vehicle, you should be able to bomb all three in line. After bombing the first group, make a 180-turn and then bomb the next group.
Don't try to bomb all the groups in one go. After bombing one group, fly away and then turn and align the plane for the next group so that you can get a precise angle for the drop. When all three groups are gone, fly back to the hangar to complete the mission!
