Jobs Overview

Jobs are GTA Online Missions which players may choose to engage in either alone or with other members of their online session. Jobs are separate from the main story missions included in GTA Online and are geared toward competitive multiplayer. Doing jobs will help you earn money and progress through GTA Online. Jobs cover a variety of game modes and can be accessed via multiple points on the map. The game mode for a job is indicated by blue icons on the map and players can find them scattered throughout Los Santos. At launch, there are currently 101 Rockstar created jobs for players to choose from, but jobs can also be player-created for others to join (This feature is not currently available, but should be soon). The following provides a brief overview of the types of jobs available, how to find them, and how to access them.?

Types of Jobs

There are four main job types available in the game. These are Races, Deathmatches, Missions, and Challenges. Each of these types come with various sub-types that differ in how they are played, the number of players allowed, and the amounts of cash that they pay out. In general, players can expect to get larger payouts for out-performing others during Jobs than they could from pulling robberies along the streets of Los Santos.

Accessing Jobs

There are a couple different ways that you can take on a Job in GTA Online. The first of these is simply to travel to the area indicated on the map and step into the blue ring that can be seen on the screen. You must be on foot to access a Job this way. Once the player steps into the blue ring, they will automatically be taken into the Job startup screen. Another way to access jobs is to use the Quick Job app on the in-game smartphone. This will allow you to join any Jobs that you have been invited to by other players in your session. You can only join Jobs that you have already been invited to using the smartphone, so if you want to host your own job you will have to travel to the predetermined area on the map.

Playlists

Playlists are a special feature of GTA online that allows players invite groups of other players to participate in a preselected list of up to sixteen different jobs. This feature allows for players to use Rockstar created playlists that can be found on their Social Club website or to create their own from their favorite Jobs. Playlists can be accessed from the pause menu by going to the online tab and then selecting the playlist option. From there users will be allowed to select from a list of their Social Club playlists or make their own. In the playlist menu, players can also create challenges for members of their crew or for members of other crews to compete against.
