Crash Bandicoot
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot (1996)
Voice Actor: Scott Whyte
Crash Bandicoot is the star of the titular series. One of the last creations of Dr. Cortex’s Evolve-o-ray, Crash originally defeated the scientist not to save the world, but to save his girlfriend Tawna Bandicoot. By the time of Crash 4, he’s saved the world twice more and spun away more henchmen than he can count (which to be fair probably 颈蝉苍’迟 very high to begin with).
Coco Bandicoot
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back (1997)
Voice Actor:
Coco is the spirited younger sister of Crash and is highly intelligent. When her face 颈蝉苍’迟 glued to a computer screen, she’s trying to get Crash’s relaxed life more organized. She replaced the considerably less family-friendly Tawna Bandicoot after she left Crash for Pinstripe after the events of the original game.
During Crash’s second adventure, Coco hacked into Cortex’s plans to warn Crash of Cortex’s real use for the Crystals: enslaving the Earth. In the third game she got in on the action herself, riding Pura atop the Great Wall of China in the 1500s and driving a jetski against pirates in the late 1600s.
In the remake of the PS1 games, the N-Sane Trilogy, Coco also used the Time Twister machine created by N. Tropy to help Crash during his first two adventures, as well as more active participation in the third.
Aku Aku
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot (1996)
Voice Actor: Greg Eagles
This spirit of an ancient witch doctor looks over the three islands that Crash and Papu Papu’s tribe call home as a benevolent protector, and the world at large if need be. He placed faith in Crash’s quest to thwart Cortex’s original plan as it would help clean up the pollution caused by the doctor. When Uka Uka was freed after the second game, Aku Aku revealed the existence of him to Crash and Coco, and would battle his evil twin brother whilst Crash fought Cortex.
Uka Uka
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped (1998)
Voice Actor:

The rottenest thing in the universe even before his brother locked him up, the many eons in prison only made him worse. Uka Uka was the original instigator behind Cortex’s plans in Crash 1 and 2, however after Cortex’s space station was destroyed by N. Brio at the end of the second game, the debris would land on top of Uka Uka’s prison and free him. Furious that Cortex managed to fail him twice and lose the Gems and Crystals, Uka Uka enlisted Dr. N. Tropy to build a time machine so that they could go back in time to get them before Crash would.
Unfortunately, Crash's defeat of N. Tropy meant that the Time Twister would collapse on itself, which sent Uka Uka, Cortex and N. Tropy to a space between dimensions, which is where we find them at the start of Crash 4.
Dr. Neo Cortex
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot (1996)
Voice Actor: Lex Lang
Dr. Neo Cortex’s early years moulded him into the Mad Scientist that he is today, and is harder to squash than a cockroach. Ridiculed by the scientific community for his outlandish (and nearly workable) theories, Cortex was motivated by one driving force: to shut those know-it-alls up once and for all. The evil mask Uka Uka recruited Cortex to take over the world by creating a mutated army of once-animals, newly-armored beasts, collaborating with Dr. Nitrus Brio to create a Cortex Commando army to be led by Crash.
Crash, Coco, Dingodile, and even Tawna are all the results of this plan thanks to the Evolve-o-ray mutating their bodies and the Cortex Vortex enahncing their intelligence. They were all deemed failures however, and Crash's in particular would result in Cortex's downfall in triplicate.
Dr. N. Tropy
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped (1998)
Voice Actor: JP Karliak
Dr. N Tropy is a master of time, which resulted in his old friend Uka Uka enlisting him to create the Time Twister machine to send him and Cortex throughout time to gather the Power Crystals before Crash would collect them in the second game. After Crash defeated him throughout Arabia, ancient China and modern times, the Time Twister was no longer supervised, which ultimately resulted in a Warp Orb escaping containment and swallowing up the Time Twister itself. This would send Cortex, Tropy and Uka Uka to a space between dimensions, which is where we find them at the start of Crash 4.
Female Dr. N. Tropy
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time (2020)
Voice Actor:
Female N. Tropy's is a gender-flipped version of Dr. N. Tropy from the same dimension as the alternate Tawna. She is just as cunning and manipulative as the "familiar" one from Crash Bandicoot 3.

Dr. N. Gin
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back (1997)
Voice Actor:
Formerly a world-renowned physicist in the Defence industry, Dr. N. Gin is one of Cortex's loyal subjects, effectively replacing N. Brio. N. Gin was hired sometime after Crash escaped at the start of the original game, and after a missile project went wrong and hit him in the head, N. Gin incorporated the missile into his body, turning him into a cyborg (although the missile is still technically live).
Since then, N. Gin has been defeated by both Crash and Coco in two separate adventures, but now thrives in the Hazardous Wasteland dimension and its junkyard of mechanical scrap.
Dr. Nitrus Brio
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot (1996)
Voice Actor:
N. Brio was Dr. Cortex's cohort for world domination and specializes in potions, able to do practically anything with them, including mutating his body and even teleportation! Brio invented the Evolve-o-Ray that mutated the bodies of Crash, Coco, Tawna and Dingodile, but Cortex effectively claimed ownership of it and acted as N. Brio's superior. Thus in Crash's second adventure, he helped Crash use the Gems to destroy Cortex's space station for revenge (despite using his forces to stop Crash from gathering the Crystals).
Brio has since returned to Cortex for this adventure, however his relationship with Crash and Coco is somewhat bipolar given that he's both trying to kill them and considers them friends (somewhat) due to their brief allyship in Crash 2. Nonetheless, his penchant for Gem remains, and he's the key to helping the siblings gain as many as possible in their fourth adventure.
Dingodile
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped (1998)
Voice Actor:
Dingodile is one of the few hybrid creations of Cortex’s Evolve-o-ray, being a bipedal dingo with the tail, belly, snout and teeth of a crocodile. His weapon of choice is a flamethrower powered by a massive fuel tank strapped to his back, which he used to great effect against Crash in his third adventure when they met during the ice age 11,700 years ago. As he found out the hard way, however, the tank has a tendency to overload and explode when struck.
After his defeat in Warped, he decided to retire and leave a peaceful life as the owner of a diner specializing in questionable bat cuisine, and has replaced his flamethrower with a powerful vacuum gun.

Tawna Bandicoot
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot (1998)
Voice Actor:
In the original Crash Bandicoot, Tawna was the buxom object of Crash's affections and his main goal. This Tawna however hails from an alternate dimension dubbed the Tawnaverse, where she is an adrenaline-fueled adventurer who can attack and pull herself across gaps using a Hookshot. In her dimension, Crash and Coco died by unknown means, which might explain why she's the main hero there.
Lani-Loli
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time (2020)
Voice Actor:
Lani-Loli is one of the Quantum Masks, gifting Crash and Coco the ability to phase objects in and out of existance, including boxes. Appropriately, he's a very nervous and jittery character, but seems familiar with Aku Aku.
'Akano
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time (2020)
Voice Actor: Richard Horvitz
'Akano (yes, with an apostrophe) is the second Quantum Mask in the game, with control over the chaotic dark matter. With it, Crash and Coco can spin indefinately, allowing them to glide through the air, smash Locked Boxes and hit back projectiles. 'Akano himself is a mask of few words, however this doesn't make him dim!
Kupuna-Wa
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time (2020)
Voice Actor:
Kupuna-Wa is the Quantum Mask who has the ability to control the flow of time, allowing Crash and Coco to slow time down to a crawl and get through normally impassable obstacles. Appropriately, she's a rather elderly, grandmother-type character with a cheeky disposition.

Ika-Ika
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time (2020)
Voice Actor:
Ika-Ika is a Quantum Mask with powers over Gravity, with the ability to flip Crash and Coco's gravity to pull up rather than down. Appropriately, this mask has two faces and thus two personalities, one somber and the other ready to leap into action.
Polar
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped (1998)
Voice Actor:
Polar is one of the few animal characters in the franchise who 颈蝉苍’迟 a result of Cortex’s Evolve-o-ray. Crash rode on his back in the North Pole and in Canada as he searched the globe for Crystals in his second adventure. Polar also liked to hang out in the second Warp Room due to its chilly temperatures, although Crash had a tendency to jump on him. Polar accompanied Crash and Coco to their home afterwards, although he was angry that he wasn’t brought along for their time-travelling escapades in Warped.
Fake Crash
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped (1998)
Voice Actor:
Fake Crash is an oddball character who, amazingly, is even more dim-witted than Crash. He is presumably a bandicoot put through the Evolve-o-ray before Crash was, and thus is considered to be a failure. His first appearance was in three levels of Crash 3 after the game was beaten 100% and Cortex defeated a second time. In the N. Sane Trilogy, he also appears in various levels of Crash 1 and 2 after 100%ing those games, as well as two extra levels in Crash 3.
Fake Crash was created by Naughty Dog after they saw a particularly bad piece of Crash merchandise that appeared in a Japanese ad, so they made him cameo in Warped. In Crash 4, Fake Crash is offered as a playable character in the Bandicoot Bash multiplayer modes, as well as an unlockable skin for Crash in the story mode.
Fake Coco
First Appearance: Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time (2020)
Voice Actor:

Fake Coco is a brand new character created just for Crash Bandicoot 4. Her origins are unknown, however it can be assumed that she has similar origins to Fake Crash (which are also a complete mystery). She's available in this game as a playable character in the Bandicoot Bash multiplayer modes, or as an unlockable skin for Coco in the story mode.
