Short, obtuse summary: This film is about fame, fortune, and death as prescribed by television tabloid series. Longer, more detailed summary: Two European thugs, one a malevolent Czech, the other an American film obsessed Ruskie, land in NYC to reclaim the money owed to them by their former thug friend. When he comes up short they snuff him out. The hitch is that they film the whole thing on a digicam. Meanwhile, across the city famed NY detective and media darling Eddie Flemming (Robert De Niro) is trying to pick up the pieces left behind by our former Iron Curtain comrades. But he's not alone. Nope, arson investigator Jordy Warsaw (Ed Burns) is also along for the ride.
