How to Get the Energy Cell in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
To get the Energy Cell, you'll need to make your way to the In-isa Shrine after having completed the Ukouh Shrine. In-isa Shrine is located in the southwestern region of the Great Sky Island and getting there may be a challenge while still getting used to the lay of the land.
For detailed steps on how to reach the Ukouh Shrine and then the In-isa Shrine, check out our walkthrough guide link below.
- Ukouh Shrine Coordinates: 0274, -0913, 1460
- In-isa Shrine Coordinates: 0027, -1503, 1408
Once you've made it to In-isa, approach the Shrine and Examine the mystical green seal to open the entrance and go inside.
Upon completing the In-isa Shrine, you'll be approached by the same Steward Construct who gave you the Purah Pad at the start of the game. This time, they'll give you the game-changing Energy Cell for your belt, and now you're all set to power all sorts of new Zonai Devices across Hyrule in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Alternate Energy Cell Location
An alternate way to get the Energy Cell is to head to the marked location on the map above and talk to the Maker Construct who is building rafts near a riverbank. However, before going into the snow, you'll want to cook and eat some spicy food (Spicy Peppers and some kind of Meat) for cold resistance so you won't freeze.
Coordinates: 0632, -1362, 1428
Upon approaching and talking to the Maker Construct, it will tell you about Zonai Devices and give you an Energy Cell, and just like that, you're ready to start powering Zonai Devices.
How to Upgrade the Energy Cell in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
To upgrade your Energy Cell, you need to produce Energy Wells at a Crystal Refinery. You'll need one-hundred Crystallized Charges for each Well you intend to make, and then you'll need to find a Crystal Refinery at one of the locations in Hyrule.
After processing many Zonaite into one-hundred Crystallized Charges at a Forge Construct's location, head on over to the Crystal Refinery just outside the north side of Lookout Landing, sitting atop a large chunk of stone.
Then, talk to the Steward Construct and tell it to "Get producing!" to convert your one hundred Crystallized Charges into an Energy Well.
And just like that, you'll have one extra pip on your Energy Cell to make Zonai Devices last a bit longer before running out of power. To get more Energy Wells, you'll have to go through the whole process of getting another hundred Crystalized Charges.
How to Get Crystallized Charges in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
To get Crystallized Charges, you'll need plenty of Zonaite and then to find a Forge Construct. Thankfully, there is one in the Mining Cave on the southern end of the Great Sky Island (below the Chamber of Awakening's floating island). When you're ready, head to the location marked by the red circle in the map screenshot above to find the Mining Cave entrance.
- Mining Cave Entrance Coordinates: 0388, -1623, 1412
For other Forge Construct Locations in The Depths, be sure to check out our Interactive Tears of the Kingdom Map.
You'll know you're at the Mining Cave entrance when you see mine cart tracks leading into a dark cave with mine carts and Zonai Fans about the entrance. Head inside and make your way toward the end of the dark cave.
Once you reach the end of the Mining Cave, you'll find a Forge Construct tirelessly processing Zonaite near a forge and two tables—one with Zonai Charges, the other with Crystallized Charges. Step on the stone square next to the table with the Crystallized Charges and you will be able to get them in exchange for your Zonaite.
A Crystallized Charge costs three Zonaite each, and you'll be able to buy up to ten Crystallized Charges at a time (if you have enough Zonaite). After making your exchange, it will take around 10 real-life minutes plus an in-game day for the Forge Construct to produce another batch of Crystallized Charges.
Where to Find Zonaite
Zonaite is a resource you can find by mining Zonaite Deposits, which are commonly found in The Depths. However, The Depths are quite dangerous, so it's a good idea to be prepared to deal with challenging foes and gloom once you're there.
As you explore The Depths, these Zonaite Deposits will often be found lining the walls of rocky terrain and near enemy camps, as well as around some points of interest.
If you're not ready to venture into the dark and dangerous Depths just yet, you can get started mining the Zonaite Deposits from the Mining Cave in the Great Sky Island.
