World 1: Bianco Hills

Welcome to IGN's Super Mario Sunshine Walkthrough. This page contains all the info you need to access and find every Shine Sprite and Blue Coin in Bianco Hills for Super Mario Sunshine.

Unlocking Bianco Hills

An intermission will show you an octopus-shaped puddle of mud in the south part of town. If you are lost at all, access a map of Delfino Plaza. It is the only area that has one! Head down there and clear a path by spraying away some of the muck.

Just like when you were at the Airstrip, you will need to spray some water into the large mass in the center to make the Piranha Plant appear. Unlike in the last battle though, small enemies constantly crawl out of the mud and throw themselves at Mario. Clear them out between shots at the Piranha Plant's mouth.

Immediately after defeating him, Shadow Mario appears and grabs Peach! Chase him through town and?lightly?hold the R Button to spray water as you run after him. Ignore the Graffiti he leaves behind and concentrate on squirting him as much as you can. When he falls, approach him, and he'll make a dash to the statue. Spray the M Graffiti he paints there to unlock Bianco Hills.

Completing this Event will unlock a few new things in town, like the Box Smashing and Fruit Gathering mini-games, but you will not be able to do these things until enter Bianco Hills and either complete the first Shine or exit the level.
