Best Base Locations
Where you place your base in Once Human will decide what resources are readily available to you, along with a handy teleportation point to help you quickly move around the map, even if there isn’t a Teleportation Tower around. Some locations are better than others, so if you want to get settled somewhere lovely, this page will go over great locations to rest your head in-between your exploration.
Best Base Location in Once Human
First, you’ll notice a lot of these bases have some common themes:
- Easy access to important resources
- Nearby Settlements or Rift Anchors
- Space for expansive building.
The first point is the most important when it comes to selecting a territory; because trees and ore respawn so quickly, you want to place your base as close to these resources as possible, so you can reliably grind materials and then transfer them back to your base. A settlement or two nearby is also a good idea, so you have materials to break down. Lastly, you don’t want to find yourself hurting for space once you expand your territory! A lot of space with room to turn your base into a fortress is also a must.
As you scout out these bases, keep in mind that space is limited on Once Human worlds- There will be other players with their eyes on the best base locations as well. If you can’t get a specific spot because another play has set up shop, consider scouting the area around them instead(making sure there is space for you both to expand) or using a Teleportation Tower to try your luck on a different world.
Dayton Wetlands (6935,-5830)
Prime real estate is always around the beaches and roads of Once Human- these spots are the first to go when a new server opens up, so keep an eye out for these while scouting your prospective base. If you’re just getting started, there is a stretch of beaches in the Dayton Wetlands that make a good starting point for your character. There is a good amount of wood and copper ore, along with a river down the beach you can use to farm dirty water(which you can then boil into drinkable water.)
Dayton Wetlands (6060,-4986)
The spacing is a little tight, but you can sneak a base into the small clearing to the east of Rotton Manor. There’s a river nearby and lots of trees, but the real advantage is the small cave down the hill, at the head of the river. Here you’ll find a large outcropping of Copper ore, great for stockpiling in preparation for crafting ammo and Bronze Ingots.
Broken Delta (5322,-7309)
As soon as you reach Broken Delta, make a beeline for the peninsula to the south. This is a large beach with trees, Copper ore, and even Tin ore in abundance, allowing you to begin farming Bronze ingots for the more intermediate facilities. If you’re interested in fishing, this is also a great time to craft a rod and practice, especially if you unlock the Air-drying Memetic.
Broken Delta (5261,-6615
The spacing here is a little tight as well, so consider basing up the nearby hill instead if your base is a little too big. There are trees for your wood and you can use the nearby Sunbury Farm to gather materials for scrap, but you’ll need to build some rain collectors for water and scavenge further west for your ore.
Iron River (5615,-3972)
As the name implies, anywhere on the river in Iron River is an amazing place to be for your base; you’ll want to be around as many Iron ore deposits as possible to fast-track the production of Steel Ingots, and the ample real estate along the river is key to filling up your water storage tank and flipping it into purified water.
Iron River (5746,-3875)
If the first river doesn’t strike your fancy, there’s another river further to the east with just as many resources to harvest. As a bonus, it even has native plants like Scarlet Calamus and Yellow Lotus, which you can prepare on your stove to produce Fruit Tea, which will restore your sanity in a pinch.
Iron River (7537,-3138)
If rivers aren’t your thing, and you don’t mind trading fresh water for saltwater, there’s a beach to the far east of Iron River with ample iron ore and trees to get started on your crafting. Though you will need to make up for the lack of fresh water, an aspiring chef can boil down the seawater to make salt, leading to higher quality dishes that reward you with stronger buffs.
Chalk Peak (2889,-5354)
This location truly has everything: ores (copper, tin, iron, even aluminum), trees, and freshwater are all in abundance near this lake, complete with plants growing near the water. It’s also surrounded by settlements you can travel to for the materials you need to craft the more end-game materials you’re beginning to access.
