The Lost Crowns (DLC)
The Lost Crowns is downloadable content for Dark Souls 2 that will begin releasing on July 22nd, with the following episodes releasing on August 26th and September 24th respectively. It's actually three pieces of DLC, each one revolving around a different crown. The release trailer can be seen below.
What We Know So Far
The trailer is brief, but there are a few things we can speculate about based on the imagery we see. We are told early on that the crowns hold the power of former kings. Souls are often the key to power in Drangleic, so it may be that these crowns have been charged with the power of souls, and those who wear one are given extraordinary power. One of the first images we see though, is a brief clip of the player character fighting a Heide Knight. In Souls fashion, the player character swiftly meets an end.

This scene happens before the reveal of the crowns, so it may just be there for entertainment, but it could also mean that players will encounter more remnants of the Heide Empire. After a few frames of text, the first episode is revealed.
Crown of the Sunken King
The first episode in the new DLC takes place in a city that appears to have been built underground. The trailer reveals several new enemies, such as the mobile poison statues seen below.
Several more flashes of enemies also appear in the trailer, with the player character battling several large hollow soldiers, a mage like creature using Dark magic and a gigantic black lizard who gets just a brief moment on screen, just long enough to eat the player. Once screen that stands out above the rest though, is the image below. It's a mural of a large dragon with people beneath him. It looks as if the dragon is protecting them, or perhaps they are worshiping him as their god?
Crown of the Old Iron King
Very little is known about this, other than that it's the second episode, and that it revolves around the Old Iron King. Of the three pieces of DLC, this is the only one where the player will already have knowledge of the king who wore the crown last. Likely, players will further explore the areas around the Iron Keep, and perhaps learn more details about the fall of the kingdom.

Crown of the Ivory King
The final piece of DLC leaves us with little, other than a snowy backdrop and the title of Ivory King. Who might it be, and in what far off land will we find his crown? Hopefully all will be revealed come September 24th.
