I’m always surprised with how the soundtrack exceeds my already high expectations.
Outdated and way too hard for nothing.
Iconic campaign and gimmicks, even more iconic local multiplayer.
There are a lot of good ideas that don’t reach their full potential because of the 2D sidescrolling nature of the game. A lot of it feels repetitive and gameplay isn’t as satisfying as Hades or Wizard of Legend for example. If the devs make a new game in 3D it would probably go hard.
A fun little game to kill time if you have Apple Arcade.
This is the best platform fighter that isn’t Smash Ultimate. Better than Multiversus, NASB and every other Smash including Melee.
I finished this before playing Hades, and I can definitely say this feels like the latter’s predecessor.
It’s not a great game.
But it taught me drums.
If I could only play one rhythm game for the rest of my life, it would either be this, RB3 or Fuser.
This one started something.
Good songs.
Best 2 from the previous games, and the original versions instead of covers. Slept on but understandably.
I stopped listening to Metallica after getting 5 stars on every song on Expert.
This was one of the more fun GH games.
Iconic.
The base songs are good, very metal oriented, and you could import so many songs. And some custom songs were fire. One of the only games where I got every achievement.
Good selection of classic songs but not very difficult.
This game had so much potential, but unfortunately it was made in the beginning of Capcom’s villain era.
The only SF4 that matters.
I worked at ubisoft on this game for two years.
The learning curve is VIOLENT.
I got good because I played this game 5 days a week for 80 weeks as my literal full time job, but realistically if you’re not good, it might take a lot of time, energy and effort to become decent.
Let’s say you launch the game.
- You spend anywhere between 2 to 10 mins customizing your characters and loadouts.
- You spend 1 ~ 2 mins in queue.
- With loading screens and character selection, you have about 1m30 between each round.
- Every round starts with a 45 secs preparation phase.
- Then the action phase begins. If you’re not that good or not used to a map or the character you picked up, and let’s be real and face the reality that playing Recruit in the beginning isn’t engaging and encouraging to continue, you have action playtime between 1 and 3 minutes.
- Let’s say the whole game lasts 4 rounds.
That’s about 20 ~ 30 mins per match, with only about 10 mins being actual gameplay.
If you’re not that good or dedicated, most of that time might be dead or loading screens.
In 20 ~ 30 mins, you can
- play 2 Overwatch games
- complete a decent chunk of objectives in TOTK
- play a whole game of battle royale in CoD mobile
- get really far into a run of Hades or Wizard of Legend
Anyway, all that being said, I think this game is the Soulslike of the competitive FPS games. Can be exhilarating for those who really like it, but definitely not for everyone.
