After numerous delays, Blue Box Games Studios has released its "Realtime Experience Patch" for its upcoming horror game, Abandoned. But the wait was certainly not worth it.
After downloading or updating a 5GB file to your PS5, the app launches a four-second teaser with no additional information or context.
If the video looks familiar, it's probably because this is the same video that Blue Box Game Studios previously shared on its Twitter account on Tuesday, the day the Realtime Experience Patch was supposed to go live on PS5.
Blue Box Game Studios said technical issues pushed back the patch in a series of now-deleted tweets. This includes one now-deleted Tweet posted yesterday, noting that the development team encountered "multiple engine issues" following a graphical glitch.
After the brief video, a message that reads "Gameplay Prologue Coming Soon" appears. Even before watching the teaser, the app has a menu featuring six slots — five of which are empty, with each slot containing a label such as "cinematic trailer" and "gameplay demonstration #1."
Blue Box Games has yet to share any additional details on when fans can expect further details on Abandoned. Yet, given the lack of communication and a questionable track record, it's hard to say what will happen next.
Abandoned was originally announced back in April. Since its announcement, the game has been the subject of an influx of conspiracy theories. Most notably, the game has direct ties to Hideo Kojima and/or is a new installment in the Silent Hill franchise.
Despite this, Blue Box has denied rumors that imply Kojima or Konami are involved in the development of Abandoned, and the game's director even had to post a statement that he was, in fact, a real person.
