Final Fantasy X / X-2 and XII were all announced in the Nintendo Direct that additionally revealed that such games as Final Fantasy VII and IX would also be appearing on Nintendo's latest console in 2019.
Microsoft also confirmed that these titles would be arriving on the Xbox One following the news.
The Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster was first discussed at TGS in 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita and later arrived on the PlayStation 4. In our review of the remaster of the 2001 & 2003 titles for the PS4, we said "Upgraded HD visuals make Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster on PS4 the best way to experience the world of Spira."
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, an HD remaster of 2006's Final Fantasy XII, was announced at E3 2016 for the PlayStation 4 and also included the Zodiac job system that was previously not available in the West.
The HD remaster also includes a new trial mode, allowing players to "take on monsters and enemies in up to 100 successive battles," and "newly recorded background music" with the ability to switch between the new and remastered soundtrack. In our review of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, we said "Final Fantasy XII’s relatable roleplaying adventure has aged remarkably well, and The Zodiac Age remaster improves it further in meaningful ways."
Final Fantasy XII claimed the number two spot and Final Fantasy X earned the number nine spot on our Final Fantasy Rankings list, and we have also discussed why Final Fantasy XII is more relevant than ever.
