In the early 2000s, video game adaptations of comic book movies were everywhere. From the surprisingly brilliant Spider-Man 2 to forgettable titles like Captain America: Super Soldier and Thor: God of Thunder, reception to these games was mixed at best.
Movie adaptations have always been treated with suspicion, and with good reason. At worst, they’re cynical cash grabs, at best, the odds are stacked against them thanks to tight timelines to hit a film’s release, sometimes suffocating restrictions in terms of content and approvals, and high costs outside production. And yet, given the richness of some of the worlds we’re talking about, there exists bountiful potential that has yet to be fully explored.
Many recent Marvel movies like Thor: Ragnarok, Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Infinity War have thus far escaped the video game treatment, but we think, given the right time and circumstances, they'd make for brilliant video games. Here are a few Marvel adaptations we'd love to see, and the video games that inspired them.Would you like to see the return of the Ultimate Alliance franchise? Have your own ideas to share?
