The Phantom Pain Announced

During the VGAs tonight, a new game called The Phantom Pain was announced. In development by Moby Dick Studio, a gameplay trailer showed off a soldier waking up in a hospital and multiple patients wandering its halls.

Seemingly supernatural elements including a unicorn, floating whale and more were included, and the trailer asked questions including “Am I in a dream?” and “Is this real?” According to Moby Dick’s official site, the studio is developing for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and The Phantom Pain appears to be their first game.

Moby Dick Studio is based on Sweden, but no other information about the game or the staff has been revealed.

The About Us page says Moby Dick's CEO is Joakim Mogren. Many eagle-eyed readers have pointed out that "Joakim" is an anagram for "Kojima," hinting that the Phantom Pain could in fact be a coded trailer for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. "Mogren" also contains the word "Ogre," suggesting a possible connection to Kojima's Project Ogre.

It's worth noting that one of the characters in the trailer does look like Metal Gear's Big Boss, but we'll have to wait for Konami or Kojima to provide confirmation before we know anything for sure.
