Campaign Tips and Tricks
Combat Tips and Tricks
- Parry every attack you can. You’re able to parry the blue attacks from enemies with ease by hitting your parry button as soon as you see the blue flash. Doing so will give you a free kill for the smaller Tyranids and will then boost your shield regeneration. If you manage to get a perfect parry on a larger enemy like the Tyranid Warriors, you’ll be able to perform a Gun Strike and deal extra heavy damage to them.
- Use your combos. Finding the right combos in fights will give you better success in survival since the fourth move in a combo will often give you a big ground stomp that has a decent area of effect. Use your light attacks three times in succession then hold the attack button to use a heavy attack which will then give you that extra follow up damage.
- Don’t be afraid to spend your grenades and stimms. While you might want to save up your grenades and Medicae Stimms for when you’re in a really dire situation, your restock options will come much more often than you think. Don’t be afraid to use your supplies whenever you can.
- Swap weapons often. You’ll come across weapons lying on the ground or at various checkpoints for you to swap to. Don’t be afraid to swap weapons from an automatic type to a single fire, higher damage type for the objective ahead. If you know you’ll be dealing with a heavy swarm, opt for the automatic. If you know you’ll be dealing with more heavy type enemies like the Tyranid Warriors, swap for some heavy blasting weapons like the Melta Rifle.
- Kill to heal. In order to heal in Space Marine 2, you have to deal lots of damage or perform kills to get life back. When you take damage, you’ll notice a white bar pop up on your health bar that will quickly tick down if you do not deal damage. That’s your contested health that you can earn back if you’re able to deal damage or, if you can execute an enemy, you can get your full health back. Using your Medicae Stimms will give you some health but will not give you back that contested health progress.
- Don’t stay married to your loadouts. After the first few main story missions, you can create your own loadouts between missions using guns and melee weapons you’ve encountered in the previous levels. This is great, and it’s an awesome way to enter a level with a weapon set you’re comfortable with, but you should never stay married to it. A typical Space Marine 2 level sees the squad switch between huge open areas with thousands of enemies, to tight corridors with small amounts. And usually, right before a structure change like this, you’re presented with a choice to switch your weapons. You absolutely don’t have to, but the game is more or less offering to give you a weapon that better suits that area, and it’s an offer you should take. You might be handed a Melta Rifle to dispatch large groups of enemies at once, a flame thrower to destroy heaps of smaller tyranids, or even a sniper rifle to take out some pesky long-range enemies. It helps to stay versatile in your weapon choices.
- Smash Boxes for Loot. While most scattered debris is just set dressing for the various stages, you’ll occasionally spot some Astra Militarum boxes. These boxes should be shot or hit with your melee attacks, as they’ll typically contain the more sparse loot that can be found – ranging from guardian relics to even health packs.?
- Tyranid Pile-Up Can Be Treated As One Big Enemy. Many of the missions in Space Marine 2 feature a moment where thousands of Tyranids are climbing over each other up a wall, with your team tasked to hold them back. Instead of looking at these groupings as thousands of tiny critters, instead, picture them as one giant enemy. You can lob a grenade to break up the group, or just shoot it a bunch with your gun, but when you’re targeting a specific grouping of wall climbers, you shouldn’t stop until that grouping essentially explodes. That’s when you know you’ve done enough damage to push them back.

How to Kill Tyranid Enemy Types
- How to kill the Zoanthropes. Zoanthropes are the annoying flying Tyranids that are hard to kill due to their shielding and sporadic attacks. Zoanthropes will throw out a psychic beam that can hit you hard and throw you backwards and will also shoot psychic bolts that will explode when it hits you. Zoanthropes will be hovering above a swarm of enemies so getting to the Zoanthrope will be difficult. Focus fire on the Zoanthrope and if you have a Krak Grenade (a sticky grenade), one straight explosion on it will kill this Tyranid.
- How to kill the Ravener. The Ravener is an enemy you can’t quite fight just outright. The Ravener will burrow into the ground and skulk about before jumping out and attempting to get the drop on you. The Ravener will hit you with a Burrow Strike upon bursting back into the air and this cannot be blocked or parried. Instead, dodge and throw a grenade and focus fire on the Ravener so it becomes stunned and can’t burrow again. If you manage to parry its attacks, you can earn yourself a Gun Strike against it.
- How to kill the Tyranid Warrior. Tyranid Warriors are the most frequent Tyranid enemies you see in a giant swarm. Focusing on killing the Warriors are for the best since if you manage to kill one, whole groups of nearby Tyranids will drop since they’ve lost their connection to the hive mind. If you’re in melee range, use your heavy melee attack to break the Tyranid Warrior’s guard. If you’re outside of melee reach, focus fire your primary weapon on the Warrior’s head and you should take them down easily.
