Tower of the Gods
Tower of the Gods Walkthrough
Items: Small Key (2), Joy Pendant (2), Compass, Dungeon Map, Command Melody, Treasure Chart (#6 and #30), Hero's Bow
Welcome to the Tower of the Gods, the only dungeon you can enter with your boat. Pop up your sail and go to the northeast corner of the dungeon. You can move forward by pressing up and on the stick. It's not the fastest way to get around, but it beats swimming. The changing water levels in this dungeon aren't just there to annoy you. They play a role in the tower's puzzles, as you will see.
Jump out of your boat and swim over to the sealed door. You have to wait for the water level to be high in order to climb up. Grab one of the statues and place it on the glowing spot next to the door. It will open. Careful, inside the next room you will run into electrified ChuChus. Don't hit them with your Sword. You have to stun them first (with your Boomerang, for example), only then you can take them out safely without getting hurt.
Step forward and jump into the pit with the two boxes when the water level is low. Grab one of the boxes and stand next to the glowing spot. Press R to drop the box onto the spot. Do not throw it or it will break! A bridge will appear. Climb up the ladder and cross the bridge (it will only appear when the water level is low, of course). Go to the end of the room and grab the magical chess piece. Carefully cross the bridge and exit the room.
Go to the left and place the piece on the cross shaped indentation in the open pagoda. This will unlock the canal to the east. Get back to your boat and sail into that passage. There is another locked door at the end. Pick up the two statues and place them on the glowing spots to open it up. Enter.
Push the boxes into a straight line when the water level is low. Practice jumping over them when water rises. You want to be able to get from one side to the other without falling into the water. Grab a stick from one of the pots and light it as the water level rises. Hop across your makeshift bridge and light the two torches. A treasure chest will appear. It contains Small Key #1. Yellow ChuChus will appear. Defeat them or ignore them, but remember not to touch them.
Sail to the other side of the building (west). While still on the boat, equip your Bombs?and fire the cannon at the three wall panels.
Swim over to the walkway, defeat the ChuChu, grab a stick from the pot and -- while the water level is low -- go down the steps and light the two torches. This will make a treasure chest appear on a platform in between the two doors. Open it to get a Joy Pendant.
Use your key to open the locked door on the bottom floor and enter. Defeat the ChuChu Jellies with your Boomerang and Sword (you can lock on to all four and perform a spin in the middle if you want to show off) and a stairway will appear.
Climb up, grab the statue and bring it outside. If the water level rises, Link will drop the statue and it will respawn in the spot where you found it. Run up the steps to the left and place the statue on the depression (picture above, right). This will change the flow of the waterfalls in the middle of the room.
Go through the door in the northwest corner. Defeat the flying skull by using your Deku Leaf?to extinguish its flames, then slash it with your sword. Open the treasure chest to get the Compass. You can't do anything with the eye just yet, so make a mental note for later.
Sail to the southeast corner and find a cage-like entrance that gets submerged whenever the water level is high. Wait for the water to recede, then enter the cage and quickly open the door.
Inside the room, you will find wooden boxes that can be pushed around when the room is empty, as well as three destructible wall panels. There is an opening in the south wall with pots that contain Bombs. If you're out, grab some now.
Tackle the two panels in the middle first. Swim up to them and climb on the ledges, place Bombs, and blow them up. The alcove behind the bottom middle panel contains some pots and a treasure chest. Inside, you will find the Dungeon Map. The other side's got pots with Rupees. Next, push the right crate a little closer to the wall, stand on top and, when the water level is high, use a Bomb to blow up the last panel. Defeat the ChuChu and smash the pots to get a Joy Pendant. Fight the rest of the creatures and exit the room.
Sail to the middle of the tower and enter through the door that was once covered by the waterfall.
The next room (north passage, 1F) contains a Beamos turret and a few rats. You can get rid of the rats by using your Boomerang, then equip your Bombs and turn towards the turret. When it sees you, its head will materialize and attack you with a laser beam. Run out of the way, then throw a Bomb at the head and it'll shatter. You can also drop a statue on the edge of the circular area, and use it for cover while you leisurely take aim with a bomb. You can now fetch the statues and bring them over to the glowing spots on the ground without getting shot at. Place the two statues on the spots, stand on the third and you will activate the elevators in this room.

Ride up to the next floor by switching elevators twice. If you have a GBA connected, you can now jump to that static platform in the middle of the room to collect the Goddess Tingle Statue. Just have Tingle bomb the spot with the question mark and the treasure chest will appear. Once you're done, go through the door.
You should now be in the center hall on the second floor. There is an exit on each side of the room. Go east (right) first and open the door with the glowing emblem.
Use the floating platform to cross the room to the other side. Defeat the electric ChuChus and go through the door.
If you've got a GBA connected, you can now collect one of the Pages of Legend. Turn left and ignore the glowing steps for now and walk over to the stone statue. Tingle will call you and point out the location of Page 5. Walk to the spot to collect it. There are five such pages in this dungeon. Collecting them all won't get you anything special, just background history about Tingle. To read the pages, go back to the entrance hall on this floor and find the pages marked as yellow crosses on the GBA map. Hit A to read Tingle's back story.
It's time to take control of your first idol. Walk across the glowing platform to the far end of the room and read the inscription on the stone tablet. Stand in front of the pedestal and press R. Link will call the idol down and it will follow you like a little puppy. Guide it across the walkway to the left side of the door. Once you're no longer underneath the translucent platform, pick up the idol and jump across the gap. Exit the room.
Still carrying the statue, ride the elevator across the room and exit through the door marked with the magenta Triforce symbol. The idol will hop forward and a stone tablet will appear in the middle of the room.
Stand in front of it and use the Wind Waker to learn the Command Melody (you need to push the left analog stick to the left to switch to a 4/4 tact, then play left, center, right, center). You will now be able to enchant certain characters and objects and control them. The west door will unlock. Go through.
Not sure what to do in this room? Look up! But before you use your Grappling Hook, knock the two skulls out of the air with your Deku Leaf. You don't need to be locked on to get the one in the back. Use the Hook to swing across to the west side of the room and exit through the door.
The next room doesn't have any enemies, so get out your Grappling Hook and latch onto the grappling point above. If you've got a GBA attached, climb up the rope and stand on top of the grapple point to collect Page 1. When you've got it, climb down and swing across the pit to the other side. Hit the R button to call the idol when you're standing in front of the pedestal, then walk over to the glowing switch.
Use your Wind Waker?to enchant the idol. Link will stand still, concentrating on the spell, while you will have full control over the idol with your left analog stick. Hop it across the bridge to the other side. When you're on safe ground, hit Start or R to switch back to Link. Swing across the pit with your hook, pick up the statue and exit the room.
Place the statue on top of the glowing switch to unlock the side door.
Grapple on to the bar, stop swinging and change direction. Face south and swing over to the previously locked door. Open it. A "Darknut" armored knight awaits. The key to defeating the iron-clad fighter is to hit him in the back, where he is not protected by his strong armor. To do so, stand in front of him, draw your sword and wait until your A button icon flashes (and your controller rumbles). Hit A quickly and Link will perform a special attack maneuver. The knight will gradually lose his armor (and sometimes his giant sword, which you can pick up and use against him).
Win the battle and you will get your hands on the Hero's Bow. Exit the room.
Shoot an arrow into the eye on the wall, then take down the two flying skulls (you can use arrows for that, too). Platforms will appear above the pit. Swing across to where you left the idol using your Grappling Hook (the idol is marked as a magenta spot on your map), grab it and hop across the platforms to the other side. An Armos statue will activate and hop towards you to attack you. The easiest way is to wait on the second platform and if the statue activates, it'll walk towards you and fall into the pit. It'll respawn but you can leave the room if you're quick enough. If you want to defeat it, put down the idol with R and fight the statue: lock on and stun it with an arrow, then hit the crystal on its back a few times. You can also jump out of the way when it charges at you and just use your sword, but you need to be quick. Once you're done, grab the idol and leave the room.
When you leave the room, the idol will activate another pillar and open the last remaining door.
Go through the north door.
Use your Boomerang to rid the room of the bats, then hop down onto the chained platform to the right and go through the east door.
Shoot down the flying skulls, then shoot the eye switch with your Bow while standing on the platform that moves left and right. You can break the pots and retrieve items by using your Boomerang, so don't bother going to the corners of the room. Instead, hop onto the platform with the eye switch and jump to the static platform with the treasure chest when it's at its highest point. Inside, you will find the Small Key #2.
Video Walkthrough: Tower of the Gods Part 2
There is also a Page of Legend in this room for all you GBA players. Tingle will automatically call it out once you jump onto the platforms. To get it jump off the second platform through Tingle's target into the bottomless pit. Yes, you will take damage, but you will also have collected Page 2.
Face south and shoot an arrow at the eye switch at the other end of the room.
Jump on the platform to the right, ride it up to the top and hop over to the platform on the left. Wait for the platform with the eye switch to arrive, then ride it across the room. When you're in the middle, look towards the door (above picture, right). There is another eye switch there you have to shoot. Do it and a treasure chest will appear on the south platform. It contains a Joy Pendant. To get to the exit quickly, just hop into the bottomless pit (if you've got plenty of hearts, that is). You can also hover back with your leaf or do it the old-fashioned way via the platforms. Leave the room.
Climb up the ladder and jump down to the left platform. Throw a Bomb at the wall panel just before it explodes to blow it up, then exit through the door behind it.
The room contains two huge Armos Knights. Stand on the Wind Waker crest and play the Wind's Requiem. A treasure chest will appear and the two statues will come to life. Equip Bombs and throw them at the statues whenever they have their mouths open. The statues will swallow the Bombs and blow up (be sure to get out of the way of the explosion). Open the treasure chest and get one of two Treasure Charts in this dungeon. Exit.
Back in the room with the two platforms, climb up the ladder and grab one of the clay statues. Either throw the statue from above or jump down to one of the platforms and hit R to drop the statue. Get another one so that the weight of the two statues on one side lifts the other platform (and lets you stand on it without it going down).
Jump across the platform and go to the north exit. Unlock the door with the key you found in the room with the moving platforms and go through.
You're now in the room to the very north on the second floor. Climb on top of the block in the middle and hop across to one of the statues on the side. From the spot shown in the picture below (left), float over the barrier with the help of your Deku Leaf. That was quick, huh?
Stand in front of the statue and hit R to call it. Use the Wind Waker (left, center, right, center), and you're in control of the idol. Move through the barrier and onto the light switch to turn the barrier off. Now hit start or R to control Link again.
If you're playing with a GBA connected, note that there is also a Page of Legends in this room. It's located on the left barrier post. You can float to it from one of the statues or from the altar in the middle of the room. Do it and grab Page 3, then grab the idol and exit the room.
Put down the idol with R. Defeat the Wizzrobe with your Bow and Arrow from afar (you can also lock on and stun him with your Boomerang). Put the idol on the right platform, then fetch three statues and use them as counterweight on the other one. You can now hop over, grab the ideal and go to the exit of the room (marked with the glowing emblem). This was the third and final statue. The idols react to each other and create a pink glowing portal in the middle of the room. Walk up the stairs and enter the light if you want to move on to the upper floor.
Now is as good time as any to retrieve two treasure chests you weren't able to get to earlier on. Exit this room through the south door and go back to this room:
Shoot the eye to reveal a hidden alcove with a chest. Open it to get another Treasure Chart.
Go back to the room with the glowing portal and the Pages of Legends (GBA only) and go through the right (east) door. Defeat the enemies in the room (including the Wizzrobe -- just lock on and fire your arrows), then hop on the platform. Turn right and shoot the eye.
A new platform appears. Ride it up to the door and enter the last remaining treasure chamber. Defeat the oversized knight statues and you'll be able to get your hands on another Joy Pendant.
You will also find the final Legendary Page for Tingle's mini-quest here. It's underneath the south pillar in this room. Blow it up with a Bomb (if it's still standing) and step onto Tingle's target to get Page 4.
Go back to the portal room and step into the pink glow to go the third floor.
You're in a round chamber of the tower, guarded by two Beamos turrets. Blow up the Beamos in the east for a Joy Pendant (if you're having trouble doing this, simply get out a Bomb, walk towards the guard turret and toss the bomb as the statue shoots at you. Voila!).
Put the two clay statues on the light switches and stand on the third to switch off the energy barrier. Open the treasure chest to get the Big Key. The two statues will come life and charge at you. Dispose of them and go through the now-unlocked north exit.
You're now outside, climbing a open air stairway to the fourth floor. Take out the Kargorok (remember to steal the feather with your Grappling Hook), then approach the blue Beamos. The blue variety will only shoot in a straight line and not home in on you. As soon as the head materializes, shoot it with your Bow. Continue to walk up the stairway, blowing up the Beamos (watch out for the lone red one) and defeat the Kargorok at the end. If you destroy the last red Beamos before the boss door, a fairy will appear that you can catch in your bottle. Enter the boss door.
