Picto Box Quest
Picto Box Quest
Requirements:?Picto Box
To embark on the Picto Box Quest, you first need the (surprise) Picto Box. Go through the door shown in the picture below to the right, up the hill from the village entrance.
Inside this room, you will find Tingle, who is locked inside a cell. To let him out, just step on the switch to the left of the door. Once freed, Tingle will give you the Tingle Bottle and Tingle's Map in the Wii U version (instead of the Bottle, you will receive the?Tingle Tuner in the GameCube version).
Next, go into Tingle's cell, pull the crate away from the wall and crawl into the opening. Follow the above map to get through without problems. Beware of the areas of the floor covered with wood (indicated with red on the map). These are trapdoors that land you in the water. When you get to the room all the way to the right, you'll get your hands on the Picto Box -- Wind Waker's own black-and-white camera.
With the Picto Box in hand, find and talk to Lenzo, the photographer. His shop is up the town's stairway, with a camera sign above the door. Check out his photos upstairs, and show him some pictures of your own, and he will soon sign you on as an apprentice (he will do so once he's standing behind the counter). He will instruct you to take specific pictures.
Make sure your camera isn't full and get the following shots:
1. Snap a shot of the man in red when he sends of a love letter. During the day, follow the man with the moustache who slowly walks down the stairs from the upper portion of Windfall. Don't get close or he will stop. Wait by the mailbox and take a picture of the whole guy (from head to toes) while he is putting the letter in the box. If the letter is already in the box, it's too late.
2. Go to the coffee shop up the stairs. Startle the lone old man in the corner and get his surprised look on camera. You can roll into his table or drop the dishes, but the easiest way is to stand in the spot shown in the picture and toss a pot towards him. Immediately get out your camera and take a picture of the man (don't cut his feet or head off) while he's shaking.
3. Find the girl with the orange dress close to the stairs that lead up to the windmill. Position yourself as shown in the pic above and wait for a guy in green to come along. It'll take a while, but don't give up. When the two make eye contact, snap your picture.
Bring each picture to Lenzo, the picto store owner (one by one) and you will be rewarded with an apprenticeship (and a Joy Pendant, in the GameCube version).
Once you have taken all three photos in the Wii U Wind Waker HD, you will receive the?Deluxe Picto Box. The benefits of this box are manifold. For one, you can now partake in collecting pictures of characters and turning them into statues in the hidden gallery on F-6: Forest Haven. For those characters that you can't photograph because they only appear in cutscenes, you can go to Lenzo and buy the photos for 50 Rupees?each. In Wind Waker HD, Lenzo will offer you one of the legendary pictographs for sale for 150 Rupees when you show him the Deluxe Picto Box.?
In a throwback to the GameCube-only fetch quest taken out of the Wii U re-release, you can bring a Forest Firefly (in a Bottle) to Lenzo. He will tell you that they used to be needed to produce a color Picto Box and reward you with a Joy Pendant for your trouble.?
- Full Moon: Ganondorf
- Almost full (bottom): Great Fairy
- Half (bottom): Jabun
- Small sliver (bottom): Fairy Queen
- Almost full (top): Hyrule King Half (top): Laruto the Zora
- Small sliver (top): Fado
You can also pursue some photo quests involving few people around town.
For example, take a photo of the full moon and bring it (during the day), to the young man sitting on the steps. He will give you Treasure Chart #31 as a reward.
Another easy quest: take a picture of the lady in orange near the potion shop, then show it to her. She will reward you with Treasure Chart #33.
Another photo quest involves the young woman in the orange dress, Linda, you photographed earlier. Talk to her and she will ask you to take a picture of herself and show it to the gentleman in green, Anton, who looked at her (he walks in circles around the island). The next day, after you have shown him the picture, go to the coffee shop. The couple will be there and reward you with a Piece of Heart.
Next, do this related sidequest:
Secret Room & More Photo Fun
Once you've got the windmill going, climb into a gondola and hop across to the balcony on the second floor of the photo lab. Open the treasure chests to get Treasure Chart #29 and a Purple Rupee (50).
Crawl through the small opening and you will bust in on the photographer meeting with the older lady in orange. Take a picture of them, then take this picture to the two gossiping women. You will receive Treasure Chart #24 as a reward.
Now that you've got the Deluxe Picto Box, you can take pictures of people and creatures and use them to have figurines made. For more, check: Gallery Figurines
