Iron Boots

You can't walk underwater like in Ocarina of Time, but the Iron Boots are a handy addition nevertheless. Equip them and Link will become very heavy. This means that Link won't be able to move around quickly, but the added weight is necessary for a number of puzzles and situations. There are plenty such puzzles in the game -- and thankfully, you can equip the boots just like any other item, so you don't need to access the menu every time like in Ocarina of Time.

• Get Traction: The added weight makes it impossible for heavy winds to push Link off course. Not only can you now enter Gale Isle, but Link now has added traction when he wears these boots to safely walk on slippery ice.
• Trigger Switches/Springs: There are certain switches that you can only push when you equip the Iron Boots. Likewise, certain springs can only get pushed down when you've got the extra weight. Take off the boots and the springs catapult you into the air, which is helpful when trying to reach high up places.
• Break Tiles: If you don't want to waste bombs, you can break cracked floor tiles by making yourself heavy and walking on top of them.
