Hero's Shield

Passed down to him by his forefathers, this shield bearing the Triforce logo makes Link's outfit complete. It is automatically equipped when you draw your sword.

1. Blocking: Link can block attacks by pressing and holding the R button. When you're locked on, holding R still lets you move around, while pressing R without L makes Link crouch and defend in place.

1. Deflecting: Use the shield to deflect certain enemy attacks, such as a rock spit at you by an Octoroc. You don't actually have to adjust the direction of the shield, although you can certainly change the angle while you're holding R. This function is used for a later upgrade, however. The shield can also be used to knock a stick or other weapon out of an enemy's hand.
