Location: B-7: Outset Island (Savage Labyrinth) (GameCube-only location: Windfall Island)
Requirements: Complete the Savage Labyrinth in the Wii U version.
In the GameCube version, give 40 Joy Pendants (20, after receiving the Cabana Deed) to the teacher.

This optional item can be switched on and off at the second inventory screen (hit R to get to it in the GameCube version). The Hero's Charm is located in the right primary inventory bar, along with the Pirate's Charm, Sword, etc.

To get the Hero's Charm in the original GameCube version, first complete the Cabana Deed Quest, then give 20 Joy Pendants to the teacher on Windfall Island.
In the Wind Waker HD for the Wii U, the teacher at Windfall Island no longer gives Link the Hero's Charm for giving 40 Joy Pendants, and instead hands out a new Treasure Chart. The Hero's Charm instead had been moved to the bottom of the Savage Labyrinth on B7: Outset Island.
When equipped, Link will be wearing this charm on his face and enables him to see his enemies' hitpoints.
