Bait Bag

One of three different bags Link gets on his quest. The Bait Bag is used for two different types of bait, both of which can be bought from Beedle's boat on Outset anytime (it's the most convenient since you can directly warp to the island once you've got the Ballad of Gales):

• All-Purpose Bait: These red bait pebbles come in threes. Their primary use is to attract Fishman, the odd looking fish creature that appears in each sector of your map. You will meet him after Dragon Roost Cavern for the first time. When you see him jumping into the air, sail in close and drop some bait in the water. As a thank you, he will fill in the sector of your map and give you a hint. Feed him again to hear the hint again and/or play a mini-game. Bait can also be used in front of rat holes in dungeons. Drop some bait in front of one and a rat may come out and sell you items or potions. Finally, use bait later on Outset Island to get the large pig to dig for treasures in the mud pits.
• Hyoi Pear: Make sure you always have three or four of them in your bag. These pears are used to attract seagulls, which you can then control and use to collect rupees, Pieces of Heart, or trigger switches. Don't bump into an enemy, however, as that will instantly scare the seagull away. Press R to return to Link (don't press it by accident). The easiest place to get Hyoi pears is from Beedle's Outset Island shop ship.
