Climbing Gear Set
TOTK's Climbing Gear armor set is a returning set of Armor in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that allows you to climb faster. It features simple-looking mountain-climbing clothing that have been secretly infused with ancient tech to vastly improve climbing speeds, and are located in chests hidden in caves within the Hyrule Ridge and Lanayru Great Spring regions. In addition to their individual effects, upgrading the entire set to level 2 will greatly reduce stamina drain when jumping during a climb.

The Climbing Gears Set can be dyed at the Hateno Dye Shop, and it can also be upgraded at the Great Fairy Fountains.
Where to Find the Climbing Gear Set in TotK
The Climbing Gear Set has been hidden away in caves by the Legendary Bandit, Misko, and will require a bit of spelunking to find them. Luckily, meeting the traveling clothing hunter Meeshy on the road (she's dressed in mushroom clothing) will have her mark one of them on your map for you - the Climbing Gear.
The Climbing Gear chest piece is the easiest to get to, as it appears in the North Hyrule Plains Cave in the Hyrule Ridge region, just west of Hyrule Castle and directly east of Sinakawak Shrine. It's easy to spot running up the road from Carok Bridge towards the New Serenne Stable, and you may just find a person investigating the entrance.
Defeat the Like Likes, then Ascend up and make your way through the cave to fight a Horriblin further inside, until you reach the mid level alongside a stream with a tall waterfall.
Look closely, and you'll spot a Brightcap mushroom glowing behind the falls. Swim back behind it to find the chest for the Climbing Gear.
Climbing Gear Head Piece: Climber's Bandana Location
The other two pieces of climbing gear are a bit more difficult to reach, as they’re in the Lanayru Great Spring region right around Zora’s Domain. The Climber's Bandana in particular is in Ploymus Mountain Cave, on a high plateau between Mikau Lake Lulu Lake, east of the falls. Either swim up the falls from Mikau Lake, or Ascend up the jutting plateau cliffs to reach it.
Ploymus Mountain Cave doesn’t have any enemies, just a lot of small ledges to get across above a stream, and the walls are damp and slick, so you may want to make elixirs from Sticky Lizards or Frogs.
If you’re crafty, you can use ice elemental fruit or arrows to create temporary platforms, then ascend to reach some of these higher ones and then glide as far as you can to the next ledge.
At the top of the cave area, look to the right to find a passage to the chest you seek.
Climbing Gear Foot Piece Location: Climbing Boots
The Climbing Boots are the trickiest of the three pieces to get, and they’re in a cave called Upland Zorana Byroad, which is southwest of Zora’s Domain and just northwest of Ralis Pond. You can reach it by paragliding south from the Skyview Tower, just don't confuse it for the Upland Zora Summit Cave (it has a much smaller cave entrance set against grey rock with blue rocks on all sides.
Run forward until you reach a fork in the cave. To your left you’ll see a Like Like with Rock Armor, and a smaller entrance to your right. Head to your right and you’ll find a tunnel with another rock-armored Like Like.
You can simply run past it, or use Recall to throw one of its rocks back at it to break its armor before taking it down like a normal Like Like.
Continue through the cave, dropping down to the ledges below as you go, until you reach a room with submerged ruins. Continue to the far end of the room until you see a giant metal gate. Use Ultrahand to lift the gate up and drain the water out of the room.
Now you can hook around to the right of the gate (not through it) to enter a small room on the side of the ruins with the chest for the boots.
Climber's Set Armor Upgrades
After you find and unlock the Great Fairy Fountains in Hyrule, you can bring them ingredients and a donation of rupees to increase the armor value of each piece of armor. All pieces of the Climber's Set will require the same materials to upgrade each. See the table below for the ingredients needed and defense bonus you can gain for each piece of armor.
- Upgrading each piece to level 2 will unlock the Set Bonus: Improved Climbing Jump, reducing stamina drained when jumping while climbing
