Rupees
Rupees are used as currency in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and are used to purchase armor, materials, and unlock Great Fairy Fountains. Unlike in previous Zelda games, rupees cannot be found by cutting grass (which instead yields Hyrule Rice, Tabantha Wheat and occasionally a Fairy.
To increase your rupee count quickly, see -?How to Make Money (Rupees)
Link may earn rupees is by selling unwanted food items that you have cooked or found around Hyrule. Any of the numerous merchants can purchase your items. Rare minerals can also be sold, however they are more valuable for armor upgrades, so resist the urge to sell them. Rupees are also found in Treasure Chests, defeating certain monsters, smashing crates, and by playing Minigames.
