All Heart Pieces: Locations and Guide
This page is a guide to the 40 Heart Pieces and their locations and puzzle solutions in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Heart Pieces extend your life bar in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. You must collect 4 Heart Pieces to build a complete Heart Container. Some Heart Pieces are found in the Overworld just sitting around (if you can figure out how to reach them), some are rewarded for minigames such as an Acorn Hunt or Horse Race, and others are awarded for completing Side Quests.
How Many Heart Containers Are There in Echoes of Wisdom?
There are 20 total Heart Containers you can get in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom:
- 3 Hearts are what you start with.
- 10 Hearts can be built by collecting 40 Heart Pieces.
- 7 Hearts are found in the Main Quest, one for beating for each of the 7 dungeons.
So the math checks out! 3+10+7= 20 total Heart Containers!
Heart Pieces Locations and Guide
Below is a table of all the Heart Piece locations, what specific items you need to get them, and a guide/walkthrough for each one.
The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom Heart Pieces
Location | Collected | Required Echo | How To Get |
---|---|---|---|
Old Beds or Wooden Box | This Heart Piece is on a ledge out in the ocean in the southeast portion of Suthorn Beach. To reach it, simply make a path of old beds from the beach to its little ledge, then, put a wooden box right at the ledge to make a step up that you can use to jump to it. You can also make a path of wooden boxes from the rock island just to the right of the heart piece ledge to make the crossing. | ||
Boulder | After escaping Hyrule Castle and exiting onto the beach, you can find a cave guarded by Sea Urchins on a high cliff. To reach the cave (which you must pass through as part of the first quest), use old beds to make a staircase bridge across the water and up to it on the stoney platforms. Inside the cave, look for a lower path blocked by three boxes. The back wall with little stones is climbable. Climb to the ledge above above the three boxes and create a Boulder to smash through the boxes, one at a time. You'll need to hold ZR to recall the boulder each time and smash each of the three boxes separately to reach the Heart Piece. Now, press up on the stoney wall to climb out. | ||
This heartpiece can be purchased at the Suthorn Village's General Store, in the east portion of the village, for 80 Rupees. Note that there are several blue rupees (worth 5) in the water of Suthorn beach and a red rupee (worth 20) in a chest above the beach to make this purchase easier. Fight monsters in the forest for the remainder. | |||
Ignizol Echo | In Suthorn Forest there's a cave entrance east and north of Suthorn Village, Cave 2 is northeast of Cave 1. Enter Cave 2 and look for the Heart Piece on a high ledge to the right. Fall to the bottom of the left side. Kill the Caromadillo with an Inizol Echo and then move on to the row of boxes blocking the way. These boxes are made of wood and wood can be burned by a Ignizol Echo! Burn them and climb the wall with small rocks embedded in it to the top. Leap from climbing wall to climbing wall to reach the Heart Piece. | ||
Trampoline, Wooden Box, Decorative Shrub, Old Bed | On the path north through the Suthorn Prairie you'll come across this heart piece atop a pillar surrounded by water and eight other pillars. There are a few monsters around too, so clear them out first (a Peahat is a great option as it can flight up to the Crawltula!). To acquire the heart piece you'll want to pick either one of the short pillars on the left or right side. Now it's time to get on top! 1. Place a trampoline next to the pillar's corner (as shown in the image) so it's not directly next to it. 2. Then, place a wooden box with a trampoline on top past the first trampoline so that they're next to your target pillar. It's easier to put the trampoline on top while you're hopping on the first! 3. Jump from the first trampoline to the second trampoline. 4.While jumping on the higher trampoline, summon a decorative shrub and another trampoline in front of you (you should be looking at Zelda's back still). The first trampoline will disappear. 5. Jump forward to the next trampoline. You should be high enough to jump to the pillar! 6. Now that you're on the pillar, you can use four beds to build a bridge to the heart piece. Congrats on your new piece of heart! | ||
Decorative Shrub | This Heart Piece is just north of the Oasis in Gerudo Desert on a platform in a sandstorm...and in quicksand. To reach it, walk just northwest of the Heart Piece and hop up the ledges to come to some pillars leading east with a cactus fruit on top. This area is full of quicksand, but you can drop Decorative Shrum echoes into the sand and quickly move across them. Do this to travel east, then south to the Heart Piece. | ||
Tri Rod Move Function | This Heart Piece is in a cave accessed by ladder high above Gerudo Town, above the northeast corner of the town. Use trampolines to climb the city walls by the throne room to reach it. Inside, bait the yellow Thwomp things and hop over them with trampolines and ride the second one up. Here you will find a chute of Crates. Make a bridge across them with beds. Now, lock on to the HUGE boulder below to the right. Hit X to move it. This blocks a Heart Piece, and you need to lift it onto the ledge above. Move upwards by stepping on beds or other platforms you make and you can lift it up to the platform. Now those crates - burn them away with an Ignizol Echo or drop Boulder Echoes on them to remove them all. The Heart Piece is below to the right. To leave the chute/pit, use Strandtulas to reach the low ceiling, then the high one. | ||
Tornando | In the far southwest corner of the map (and the Gerudo Desert) you'll spot lots of sand mounds. Use Tornandoes to clear this area and you'll find this piece of heart! Aruroda hide in these mounds too, though, so be careful! | ||
Trampoline | Located in the middle of a forest grove on the road between Suthorn Prairie and Hyrule Ranch. Enter the grove through the opening from the south end, and defeat the Peahat guading the Heart Piece on a tree stump you can jump up to with a trampoline or any small platform. | ||
Bombfish | Once you learn the Bombfish in the Zora River Cave or by doing the main questline, head east of the Sea Zora Village near the farthest tiny stamp spot island, and look for cracked rocks on the seafloor. Use the Bombfish to explode the rock. | ||
Hydrozol | Located in a cave on the southwestern side of Zora Cove, defeat a Hyrdozol in the first room to gain its echo, then head down through the lower cave and in the final room, douse all the torches with the Hyrdozol | ||
Water Block | Once you have cleared the rift around Lord Jabu-Jabu's Den, look for a pillar to the right of the den entrance with a Heart Piece. You can swim next to it and create a pillar of three Water Blocks to swim up and grab it. | ||
Water Blocks OR Trampolines, Old Bed | In the River Zora Village, head up to Dradd's Hut on the top left of the village, and jump onto the trees behind the hut using a Trampoline. From here, you can create a stairway of Old Beds by the waterfall to climb it, and jump onto the trees against the right wall on this ledge to make another stairway up to the highest plateau. Up here, use the row of trees to create another stairway to the large waterfall to the north, and you'll find a Heart Piece at the top of the falls. Alternatively, once you complete the main quest here, use Water Blocks to create a pillar to climb the walls. Note you can also score a Fairy here for your Fairy Bottle! | ||
Walk around the back of Hyrule Castle Town's walls to the northeast side to grab this piece of heart. It's probably one of the easiest ones you'll get! | |||
Bombfish | In the southwest corner of Faron Wetlands is a small ladder leading down into Cave 1. Stick to the left as you swim downwards, using Bombfish to clear the Bio Deku Babas. An Armos, a living statue that can only be damaged from the rear, patrols a ledge. Drop a Bombfish echo behind it to destroy it. Keep following the cave path taking time to breath in air pockets and bubbles. Next up, an Armos is facing toward you in a tight passage under water, you can turn it around by using L2/X to grab it and hold it, then release it. This allows you to attack its back. Travel up to the area with Needleflys. Use Water Block echoes to kill the flys and make your way up to the ledge above to the left. Grab the Armos here to turn it around with L2/X and kill it by attacking its rear. Get your Heart Piece. | ||
Faron Wetlands - Cave 2, a cave in a wall in the southern central area of Faron, is a dark, winding path to a Heart Piece. Use a strong echo like Darknut and Crows to clear out the first room's Beakon and Hoarders, and use the same echoes in the next. Cross the chasm north. Work your way around the passages clockwise and ignore the doors. The Heart Piece is in the center of this large chamber. Use Bed echoes to reach it from the east side. | |||
After closing the rift at Stilled Blossu's House, you get thrown in the Deku Scrub Lockup. Retireve the key using L2/X and let yourself out of the jail cell. Make your way north until you get to the two open staircases down. Take the left one and use L2/X to move boxes and hide from the Dekus as you make your way left. Go down one level and move the tall shrubs in the middle of this bottom floor to reveal a path back behind them. In this chamber is a Heart Piece up high on some totem pole-like structures. Without your powers, you still have everything you need in the Lockup cell here to get the Heart Piece. On the bed, place a torch and a tall shrub to make your tallest steps. The third highest step is a single shrub. The next is a torch, and the lowest is the table. In this sequence you can reach the top -- the bed as a base for one torch and shrub is key! Well, that was a fun puzzle -- but just in the next room is your Tri Rod so you can also just come back here and reach the top with Water Blocks in about 3 seconds. | |||
Bed | West of Hyrule Castle and north of Hyrule Ranch are ruins with several pillars in a rough square shape. At the center is a Heart Piece you can reach from the south side with three beds. | ||
Fire Ignizol | After completing Rift on Holy Mount Lanayru, take the ladder up and once outside the rift cave, travel west to a huge pond with lots of Ice Keese and Ice Octos; in the southwest corner is a mound with a Heart Piece on it. Kill the Octos with Crows nearby, then place beds adjacent to the ice spikes in the water. Drop an Ignizol and lift it up and walk over, holding it by the ice spikes. Destrroy them all and claim the Heart Piece. | ||
High up on Hebra Mountain, on the western side of the summit area, there's an outdoor area with huge rolling snowballs. Here you can find a platform almost all the way to the west with a Heart Piece on it. Use Water Blocks to reach it from the west side easily. | |||
Platboom or Water Block | In the westernmost portion of the Hyrule map, north and west of Gerudo Town, there is a Heart Piece high up on a pillar against the west wall of the map. To reach it you'll need to get to the eldge above, but there's a small gap in the climbing wall. Alternately, you can get here by navigating DOWN from Goron City. | ||
In a small cave with a ladder leading down in the far, far west of Hyrule along the westernmost map edge, there's a small cave in a grassy depression with a ladder leading down. In the cave you'll find a Heart Piece behind two boulders. You need to stand at the ladder's bottom and grab the furthest with your L2/X power, hit L2 to cycle between boulders. Push it into the pit. Now, grab the second boulder, the one closest to you again, from the ladder to give yourself enough pushing space. Walk it towards the other boulder and leap as you do so to push it up and over. Now you can reach the Heart Piece. | |||
There is a HUGE BOULDER in a small depression in far west Hyrule, almost to the west edge -- about halfway between the Gerudo Desert and Eldin Volcano regions. Walk to the right side of the boulder and grab it with L2 / X. Jump to lift it, and push it to the left. You should be able to edge it up and off the Heart Piece beneath! | |||
In far west Hyrule, almost to the western edge of the map -- about halfway between the Gerudo Desert and Eldin Volcano regions, there is a small pond with a lot of Oktoroks in it and some three pillars and a Heart Piece. After clearing out the Oktoroks with Crow Echoes (for free rupees!), use Bed Echoes to make a path to a lower pillar, then from there to the Heart Piece. You can do this with only three Bed Echoes! | |||
Beat two challenges in the Slumber Dojo. | |||
Holmill | In West Hyrule, due north of Hyrule Ranch, there's a cave in the northern wall with a ladder leading down. Inside here you'll find a locked gate, some climbing walls, and lots of Spiked Rollers. But the Heart Piece is in the far upper left, in a chamber with a sandy floor you cannot access from the cave proper. The sandy floor is a clue: You need a Holmill (from Gerudo Desert - Ancestor's Cave of Rest) to access this -- from ABOVE the cave, outside. Use Bed echoes to climb up above the cave to find a sandy hole beneath the forest boughs. Place a Holmill here and follow it into its hole to get the Heart Piece. Use a Holmill to leave the HEart Piece chamber -- there's a Golden Egg in this cave as well if you lift a Spiked Roller with L2/X and place it on the ramp to the far right to open the locked gate. | ||
Moblin Lv. 3 | Talk to archaeologist Sago outside the temple ruins east of Hyrule Castle and he'll tell you of a sound inside. This begins the Let's Play a Game Side Quest. Inside you will find a series of rooms with switches that can only be activated with Sparks. Kill a Spark with a high level Moblin Echo and collect it or use a Bomb Fish. This makes activating each switch far easier than using the Sparks in each room. Go north then west, tehn down a ladder to travel through a series of side-scrolling rooms and a room full of water. You will come to a room with a boss named Smog, an electric cloud enemy. Smog can be easily damaged with a Moblin Lv. 3 and is difficult to take on with other enemies that can't reach it. Smog divides into clouds after being hit by your Moblin and you must then move Boulders around or chreate Boulder Echoes to bridge the gaps between blocks so the clouds hit eachother and reform Smog. The trick here is to grab Smog's clouds with your L2/X power and tug on them to reverse their course. After hitting him three times, he will die, leaving you a ton of Rupees and a Heart Piece. He now moves to Faron for a second challenge, talk to a Scrubton Deku to start that. | ||
This Heart Piece is due west of Goron City on a high platform that just out south from the larget laval lake. Use a Platboom to ascend to it or work your way around from the back. | |||
This Heart Piece is northwest of Goron City in the middle of the large lava lake. There are a number of ways to reach this platform but some beds from the east side cliff may be easiest. Warp out of the lake once you have your Heart Piece. | |||
At the peak of Hebra Mountain is an icy lake with an Ice Wizzrobe patrolling it. Climb up the wall wast of here with Bed Echoes and follow the high ledge around counter-clockwise. This Heart Piece is sitting on the high cliff above the warp point and cave below. | |||
There is an Acorn Game to play northwest of Kakariko Village. Talk to a man by the trees and then play thr game to collect 11 Acorns in under 40 seconds -- find them in about 22 seconds to get the bonus Heart Piece. | |||
Moblin Lv. 3 | After completing the Faron Temple, and completing the Let's Play a Game Side Quest, talk to a Deku in Scrubton just east of the Deku Lock Up. Talk to this Deku to start Cotton-Candy Hunt. Go to southeast Faron and look for two torches outide a massive Deku statue. You'll need to kill all the enemies here causing it to rain, then light the torches. Enter the stairway that appears. Inside you'll have to charge several boxes with electrical Spark echoes. One can be easily charged by holding Y to send a Spark through a grate to charge the box on the other side. You'll then have to face Smog again, a similar fight to that before but he starts as a separate cloud form, then reassembles only twice. Use Bed echoes to link the platforms to lead his clouds to him. Remember you can change their direction with L2 / X. Drop a Moblin Lv. 3 to swipe at him when he is fully formed. He once again drops a Heart Piece. | ||
After beating the Hebra Temple, return to Conde's House and start the Snowball Magic Side Quest. In front of Conde is a special, sparkling Snow Ball you cannot make an Echo of. Stand to the far right of where it drops and catch it with L2/X with some distance between you and it. Walk it west then north up the path to the platform, hanging it left off the path so it doesn't get hit by the rolling Snow Balls. Place it on the platform to get your Heart Piece. | |||
Zelda's Horse | This Heart Piece requires Zelda's Horse, only available after Hyrule Castle Dungeon. Talk to Impa to start a quest called Impa's Gift to get the horse. After unlocking Zelda's Horse, beat the Medium Flag Race in under 20 seconds to become course master. This is really hard! Don't dash right at the start or around corners! | ||
Start The Zappy Shipwreck Side Quest in Seesyde Village and beat the miniboss lurking in the ship in the Zora Cove to get this Heart Piece. | |||
After defeating the two Lanmola in Gerudo Desert, visit the Gerudo Palace barracks for a side quest that challenges you to fight a particularly aggressive Lanmola. Defeat it to earn the Heart Piece. | |||
After completing the Still Missing Main Quest, return to the Tough Mango Lab in the Gerudo Desert Oasis to try the Ultimate mango harvesting challenge, and successfully harvest all 70 mangos to earn the Heart Piece as an additional reward. | |||
Zol, Ignizol, Hydrozol | After completing Dampe's Performance Artist Sidquest to create the Gizmol Automaton, return to the Curious Child in Hyrule Castle. After you've shown him a Zol, Ignizol, and Hydrozol, he'll have mentioned wanting to see a Zol nobody has seen before. You can now start An Out-There Zol Sidequest, and showing him the Gizmol will award you with a Heart Piece | ||
Beat 11 Slumber Dojo challenges. | |||
Access to a new cave north of the Lizalfos Burrow opens after completing The Rift on Eldin Volcano and leaving for quests elsewhere that leads to the special side quest A Mountainous Mystery. The reward is a Heart Piece. |
