How to Defeat a Lynel
A Lynel will demand all your skill and focus when you decide to battle one (Protip: Turn down the volume so your heart stops racing). Their move set is varied to include physical strikes, archery, and magic.
Get Prepared
Make sure to go into the fight with plenty of health items (Hint: ?Cook any fruit + big hearty radish for max heart restoration plus multiple temporary hearts), fairies, and defense or attack elixirs. ?Lynel strikes deal a tremendous amount of damage. ?

Max upgraded armor (★★★★) or max upgraded jewelry (eg. Amber Earrings) will help lessen the damage. ?To get this, you will need to unlock all four Great Fairy Fountains.
Get Close
When close to the Lynel, it will have a heavy swing, a cross slash, or jump back and rush at you. You can use your Stasis rune to stop him as he charges to land a few good strikes (this doesn't last long, so work quickly). ?Wait until it runs past you and then strike it from behind so when it reanimates, you aren't in the way of its weapon.
Without a doubt, the combination of a?shield?and?one-handed weapon?is the safest combo to use against a Lynel. By executing a Perfect Parry, you open up the Lynel's defense and can whittle its health down. It may take a while, but the spoils are worth it!
Remember: ?In order to use a sheild, you must choose a single-handed sword. ?The Master Sword is a good choice.
Creating distance between you and the Lynel may invite it to show off its archery skills and you'd better believe they are pinpoint accurate. It is best to not challenge it from a distance.
Get Smart
If you are confident with a bow, hitting a Lynel in the face will stun it. Using a bow that fires multiple arrows makes this a tad easier. Using Ice Arrows or stasis will freeze the Lynel temporarily. If you get close enough, you mount it and deal additional damage!
During the fight, the Lynel may conjure up some fire magic. It will either send three fire blasts your way or create an explosion. Keep your distance during these attacks and run away. If there is a natural obstruction (i.e. a rock), put it between you and the Lynel during these fire attacks, if possible. ?

If the grass catches fire, it will creates an updraft which you can use by jumping into it and pressing x to active your paraglider. ?You can then use Y to nock an arrow and launch an airborne assault (aim for its head)!
When the Lynel is finally slain, it drops its?weapons?and some body parts that are essential for armor upgrades. ?Lynel?weapons?are powerful and durable, so you will definitely want to try them out!
