How to Make a Hot Air Balloon
From cars and boats to flying machines, you can make just about any vehicle in Tears of the Kingdom, thanks to the Ultrahand ability and the Zonai Devices. When combined, these new features allow Link to explore the Kingdom of Hyrule in ways that have never been done before, such as making a hot hair balloon.
Here you'll find everything you need to make a hot air balloon, including the necessary Zonai Devices, and where you can find them.
How to Make a Hot Air Balloon
Hot air balloons in Tears of the Kingdom are the best way of traveling up high and getting to some of the more remote sky islands, and they function much the same as they do in real life.
You'll need a few components to make a hot air balloon—you can even make one solely out of Zonai Devices. Without using a plank of wood or a stone slab as the base, you can make a hot air balloon anywhere by just taking out these devices and attaching them with Link's Ultrahand ability:
- Balloon
- Cart (for the base)
- Flame Emitter (for propulsion)
- Batteries (if you need to go higher)
- Since the Cart has a smaller surface area than your standard plank, just be wary of your footing and try to place the Balloon as center as possible on the platform.
- Also, you don't have to attach the Flame Emitter to the Balloon since it will angle itself correctly when put inside the base compartment.
Once you're ready with the placement, hit your vehicle with your weapon, and you'll lift off into the sky. If you run out of charges while mid-air, you can use Zonai Charges to keep the flame running or hold a torch underneath the Balloon—you can ignite the torch with the fire from the emitter.
The torch is also suitable as a placeholder for when your Energy Cells are recharging. When you're fully charged, hit the hot air balloon again, and it'll rise faster once more.
