How to Create a Boat
Traveling the different landscapes of Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom has completely evolved with the addition of Link's new abilities—one of which allows you to create your mode of transportation. This guide will quickly cover how to create a boat, from the simplest raft to a more complex Zonai-powered hovercraft.

How to Create a Boat
The most straightforward way to create a boat requires three components:
- The Ultrahand ability
- A few decent size planks or logs
- One or two sails
The Ultrahand ability is unlocked during the In-isa Shrine on the Great Sky Island introductory area. Planks are usually found on one of the many material sites scattered throughout Hyrule—the sites located near a body of water typically have a sail or two next to the planks.
- If you can't find any planks, cut down some trees using a sword or an axe.
- To move faster, you can use Fuse to combine a Korok Frond and a weapon to make a fan and generate wind.
Once you have all the components, attach the planks/logs and the sail using the Ultrahand ability.
Keep in mind that when using a sail, you'll only travel in the direction of the wind—you can quickly find the direction by looking at where your sail is facing before putting your raft in the water.
How to Travel Faster on Water
Though a simple craft like the one above might get you out of the Great Sky Island, you'll soon run into many different tasks and side quests requiring you to travel against the water current or journey greater distances.
To make a vessel able to accomplish this feat, you'll need to add three components to your boat:
- A couple of Zonai Fans (you could use a Rocket too)
- Enough Zonai Batteries or Zonai Charges
- One Steering Stick
The fans will propel you with great speed, and being able to control your direction is extremely handy. This blueprint can apply to almost all modes of transportation you can create in the game; you even get to make your own plane.
