Galactic Trade Network (GTN)
In its purest form, the Galactic Trade Network is simply a place to trade items between players for a nominal amount. Think of it as the Auction House of Star Wars: The Old Republic. If you're looking for a specific item, there's a good chance you'll find it residing within the GTN. Of course, depending on supply and demand, it can be two or fifty times the amount you could normally find it from vendors. This player-driven economy can vary from server to server.
How To Put Up Items
The GTN opens up the buy screen first.? To switch to the selling screen use the tab labeled "Sell" at the bottom of the window. You can sell all your items via the GTN for a small fee.
Tips For Selling
Some of the most successful auctioneers apply their knowledge of real-life economics to manipulate the auction house and come out rich.
- Obviously, the rarer the item (blue Items and above) the more credits you can ask for.
- Because every server has a different economy in that some may experience more inflation than others, it's important to assess the health of the market by looking at the price of similar items for sale. Use the market value as a guideline, but don't jack up the prices too much. Sometimes it takes only a couple of skilled, savvy salesmen to manipulate the market values.
- If you plan on being absolutely cutthroat, you may need to use an alternate character to avoid harrassment. The other benefit to having an alt is to use it to undercut your own ongoing auctions.
