Speeder Races
Speeder races are categorized as Events in Star Wars Outlaws, which means they can pop up seemingly out of nowhere as you get close to certain locations. This is, essentially, the same with bandit attack events and other moments when Kay intercepts random transmissions calling for help. If you’ve got the need for speed, here’s what you need to know about speeder races in Star Wars Outlaws.
You can’t race without a speeder, so, naturally, speeder races only begin to appear as events after you complete the tutorial section and arrive on Toshara.
Speeder Races Explained
Speeder race events are often found near the entrance of neutral settlements, like Jaunta’s Hope on Toshara or Sashin on Akiva. If you have trouble triggering the event, you can simply drive away from a settlement and return.
Speeder races aren’t marked on your map until you get close to an NPC who wants to race. They’re often found standing next to a speeder. Once you do, the quest marker will appear and a notification will pop up in the top-right corner of the screen. Here’s an example:
Speak to any racer you find to start a race from that location. The objective is to get to the finish line after passing through several checkpoints. The checkpoints are marked by smoke and there’s a tracker in the top-right corner of the screen to let you know how many are left.
You should also prepare for speeder combat because the checkpoints can sometimes be placed inside Syndicate territories, forcing you to trespass. And if you’re in Terrible standing with any Syndicate, they may send a kill squad to attack you during the race.
If you’re having trouble winning races, be sure to upgrade your speeder at the part shops found in major settlements like Mirogana or Jaunta’s Hope. You can also get the Speeder Jump ability from Selo Rovak, The Mechanic. It allows you to hop over small obstacles to avoid crashing.
You don’t get much money from these events, though. So far, we’ve only won around 250 credits per race.
