How to Enter Red Dead Redemption 2 Cheats

To enter a cheat code in Red Dead Redemption 2, you need to be in the game because it requires you to access its SETTINGS. Make sure to save beforehand because activating cheats disables saves and achievements. Now that we've got all that out of the way, this is how you enter a cheat code in Red Dead Redemption 2:

Step 1: Pause the game.
Step 2: Select SETTINGS.
Step 3: Press TRIANGLE (on PS4) or Y (on Xbox One) on the controller to enter the Cheats menu.
Step 4: When in the Cheats menu, press TRIANGLE or Y again to open the text bar.
Step 5: Enter the cheat code.

Once you enter a cheat code, you'll see a message confirming you've unlocked the cheat. Turning cheats off will allow you to save and unlock achievements again. You can toggle cheats OFF or ON in the Cheats menu. See the video above to learn how to enter cheat codes in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Cheat Code Prerequisites

Some cheat codes might not work when you enter them. These cheats have "prerequisites" or requirements that you need to meet before you can activate them. The most common prerequisite is purchasing Newspapers.

How to get Newspapers in Red Dead Redemption 2

Newspapers are unlocked after you complete certain chapters or missions in Red Dead Redemption 2. You can get newspapers from newspaper sellers in various towns. They are represented by the paper symbol on the map. Newspapers contain hidden cheat codes and in order to activate or unlock them, the newspaper containing the cheat must be in your inventory.

There are three publications that sell papers —Blackwater Ledger, New Hanover Gazette, Saint Denis Times— and they serve different areas. Each publication will put out a new issue whenever an additional newspaper is unlocked but the content of those papers is the same.

As we mentioned before, make sure to save before activating any Red Dead Redemption 2 cheats. Turning on any cheat will prevent you from saving your progress or earning Achievements and Trophies on PS4, Xbox One, and PC! Cheats in green can be unlocked and used at any time. Infinite Money Exploit in Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 and Xbox One

Using an item duplication glitch, it's possible to earn infinite money by duplicating gold bars. You can watch the video above or read more specific instructions here.

Travel to the Sheriff's Office in Limpany and open the lock box under the desk.
Use the interaction button to pick up the gold bar, but pause during the animation (make sure not to touch the pamphlet first).
Save your game and then immediately load that save.
Return to the box and hold the interaction button to continue collecting gold bars (max is 30).

You can sell these 30 gold bars to a Fence for $15,000 and then return to Limpany and repeat steps 2-4.
