Missing Crewmates and Civilian Castaway Locations

The main story missions in Pikmin 4 ask you to rescue an array of people including the Rescue Corps and a huge number of Civilian Castaways. To find them, you'll need to explore caves, battle creatures, and win Dandori Challenges. On this page, you can find the list of all the missing crewmates and civilian castaways, including maps for the sublevel caves you'll find them in.

Missing Crewmates and Civilian Castaway

There are a total of 50 rescues you'll need to find across the entire game. 21 of these are Leaflings, and the only way to find out who they are is to cure them by completing Night Expeditions and collecting Sap.

There are three crucial main missions you'll be assigned in the game, all focusing on rescue operations and getting the ID Badge section of your Tablet completely filled in. These are:

Finding Missing Castaways Order

There is a set order for you to discover castaways in the game. This means that the locations you can find castaways in remain the same, but the person you find there may differ. You'll find in our Walkthrough that we've recommended an order in which to tackle each sublevel cave, so have noted who we found at each place. Last-Frost Cavern

You can find this castaway behind the Hydro Jelly at the end of the area, that needs to be smashed to recover them.

The Crackling Cauldron

On Sublevel 2 of the Crackling Cauldron, you'll find this castaway. You'll need Yellow Pikmin to get them down.

Hectic Hollows

Found on Sublevel 2 of Hectic Hollows. Use Oatchi and Rush at the metal can to knock the castaway down.

Industrial Maze

Floating on a platform in the Industrial Maze on Sublevel 2. You will need 3 Yellow Pikmin to reach him.

Aquiferous Summit

Smash through the Hydro Jelly right at the end of Sublevel 2 to find the castaway inside.

Drafty Gallery

Can be found on the Sublevel 4 of the Drafty Gallery. You'll need to fight the Puffy Blowhog boss to release them.

Sightless Passage

Found at the end of the Sightless Passage on Sublevel 1. Use Oatchi to knock them down from the stump.

Kingdom of Beasts 1

Found on Sublevel 3 of the Kingdom of Beasts cave. This level features a mini-boss fight against an Empress Bulblax, where the castaway will be dropped once you beat it.

Kingdom of Beasts 2

After beating 2 Emperor Bulbax on Sublevel 6 of Kingdom of Beasts, this castaway is dropped.

Secluded Courtyard 1

Found on Sublevel 2 of the Secluded Courtyard guarded by Anode Dweevils.

Secluded Courtyard 2

Dropped after defeating the boss on Secluded Courtyard Sublevel 4.

Below-Grade Discotheque

After defeating the Groovy Long Legs on Sublevel 5 of Below-Grade Discotheque, the door will open and you'll be able to reach the castaway.

Seafloor Resort 1

On Sublevel 2 of the Seafloor Resort, trapped inside the jellyfish.

Seafloor Resort 2

On Sublevel 4 of the Seafloor Resort. Pull the fishing line before exiting to get the castaway out of the water.

Engulfed Castle 1

Rescue from the clamshell on Sublevel 2 of the Engulfed Castle.

Engulfed Castle 2

Save this castaway on Sublevel 5 of the Engulfed Castle after the fight with the Waterwraith.

Subzero Sauna 1

Located on Sublevel 2 of the Subzero Sauna. You need to melt the ice in the room to be able to get them.

Subzero Sauna 2

After the mini-boss fight on Sublevel 3 of the Subzero Sauna, this castaway will be dropped.

Plunder's Palace 1

Can be found on Sublevel 3 of Plunder's Palace after defeating the Porquillion.

Plunder's Palace 2

Rescued from Sublevel 5 of Plunder's Palace from the Giant Breadbugs.

Olimar - Leafy Showdown

Olimar

Rescuing Olimar is one of the most important missions in the game, and the reason the Rescue Corps are even on the planet. To rescue Olimar, you'll need to unlock Hero's Hideaway. This can be done by completing 3 Night Expeditions and getting Bernard the Pilot back. Olimar can then be found in the Leafy Showdown (Dandori Battle) cave. To unlock this cave, you'll need to find the 3 Playing Card Treasures in Hero's Hideaway, which gives you the code to the bunker.
