Exploration Day 5: Blossoming Arcadia - Battle in a Box Cave, Drafty Gallery Cave, Hotshock Canyon Cave, and Sightless Passage Cave
Welcome to IGN's Pikmin 4 Wiki Guide! This step-by-step walkthrough will take you through each day to 100% completion. On this page, you can find information on how to approach Day 5 of the Emergency Mission: Rescue the Rescue Corps including details on finding crucial Treasures, missing crew members, and more.
Starting Day 5 - At the Rescue Command Post
After completing Exploration Day 4, you'll have a few more people that have joined the Rescue Command Post. Before you head out and explore the new location of the Blossoming Arcadia, here's what we recommend you do:
- Speak to Dingo. With the Sun-Speckled Terrace explored 100%, you can complete the Side Mission Investigate Areas 1. This will automatically begin Investigate Areas 2 and reward you with Raw Material.
- Speak to Dalmo. This will begin the Side Mission All the Little Darlings 1 and unlock the Piklopedia to show you all the species of creatures you've encountered.
- Speak to Shepherd. We'd recommend learning Super Buff LV. 2 for Oatchi now.
- Speak to Russ. Pick up the Bomb Rock Prototypes, then purchase at least 3 of them. You also want to get the Headlamp - this is necessary for exploring some of the caves in Blossoming Arcadia.
All Rescues, Treasures, and Sublevel Caves: Day 5
Below is a quick summary of all the treasures and rescues you'll be able to find on this day. You can find the step-by-step Walkthrough on how to do this further down the page.
Traveling to Blossoming Arcadia
The first base you'll arrive at is the Fragrant Ravine. From here, go left (west) and collect the pile of Raw Material underneath the broken bridge.
Once you've sent 12 Pikmin to transport the Raw Material back to the S.S. Beagle, head to the right from here. Go underneath the second broken bridge, as if you're heading toward the water.
When you reach the Dirt Mound, have your Pikmin excavate it, and then spin to the right and go up the ramp. This will take you to your first cave in Blossoming Arcadia, where a dog and the leafling you saw at the Sun-Speckled Terrace wait outside.
Battle in a Box (Dandori Battle)
This cave is a Dandori Battle where you'll have 5 minutes to earn more points than your opponent. One major difference in this Dandori Battle is the introduction of Bonus Finds.
Across the map, items will be marked with a Gold Star above them indicating that they're Bonus Finds. For each of these, you'll earn Double Points. Bonus Finds will keep changing, so watch your screen to see what items to concentrate on.
When the showdown is over, you'll be transported back outside and need to assign 3 Pikmin to take the Leafling back to the S.S. Beagle.
Turn left and use 29 Raw Material to build the bridge that will take you over to the west. When it's built, cross over it and head toward the Paper Bag. Have 10 Pikmin push this down to create a shortcut.
Before taking the slope down the Paper Bag, turn to the right to see the next cave just behind you. Hop in here to collect the next set of Treasures and important Castaways.
Enter the Drafty Gallery
As you drop down, Rush around the outside of the circular platform to take down the Downy Snagrets birds with Oatchi and your Pikmin.
As you run around, you'll see the Hoop of Fortune on the lower level in the center of the circle.
Hoop of Fortune
Go up the slope, all the way to the top to find the second Treasure in this room.
Spouse Alert
The last Treasure for this level can be found over in the northeast corner.
Memory Fragment (Top...Probably?)
When the final Treasure has been returned to the S.S. Beagle, drop down to Level 2 of the Drafty Gallery.
Drafty Gallery Level 2
As you land in the second level of the Drafty Gallery, take the path down to the right. Break the wall using all of the Pikmin and Oatchi, then use your Red Pikmin to defeat the Fiery Blowhog and the flames coming from the rocks on the floor to the left.
While the Red Pikmin dull the flames, get your Yellow Pikmin to take back any Raw Material and pick up the Sphere of Support above where the Fiery Blowhog was.
Sphere of Support
Follow the path until the pile of Gold Nuggets is on your left, and the Blue Candypop Bud (flower) is behind the wall on the right. Have half your Pikmin break the wall, and the others take the Gold Nuggets.
Gold Nuggets x 10
Throw 5 Pikmin into the Blue Candypop Bud and get 5 Ice Pikmin from it. Collect your Pikmin from the S.S. Beagle and now go to the left. Beat the Fiery Blowhog here, and the flames coming from the rocks on the floor then assign your Pikmin to pick up the green Tandem Trainer.
Tandem Trainer
Go the right and ride the air up to the platform, so you can find the final Treasure for this level - the train track.
Back-at-the-Beginning
When that's all transported back to the S.S. Beagle, head to the next level.
Drafty Gallery Level 3
When you land on level 3, you'll be shown a pile of Raw Material. As you take control of your character, you'll be facing away from the Raw Material, so turn around and collect this. Have some Pikmin work on building the bridge to the tunnel, and the rest of the Pikmin hit the rock pile on the left to release the air.
Ride the gust of wind over to the next section of this level, and you'll be able to see both treasures in the distance.
First, attack the Joustmite and unlock the next base. Then follow the path on the left and have your red Pikmin take down the Fiery Blowhog and the rocks spewing fire. Turn to the right after this fight, collect the pile of Raw Material, and then go up the slope to fight another Joustmite.
Once you've beaten the Joustmite and picked up the Ice Pikmin fighting it, throw your Pikmin onto the raised platform at the top of the slope. This will lower the bridge allowing you to cross and pick up the train.
Middle Management
Go back down the slope, and toward the metal ramp. Go up here and use Yellow Pikmin to collect the treasure on the right.
Internal Clock Measure
When that's done, turn around and collect the Raw Material pile, then take the slope down to the right to flatten the Paper Bag.
Hop into the gust of wind and land on the platform with the Ice Pikmin in the ground. Pluck these and return to the start of the level, to cross the bridge and head into the fourth and final level of the Drafty Gallery.
Drafty Gallery Level 4
The fourth level of this cave features a mini-boss fight against a Puffy Blowhog. Just to the right of it, there's a raised platform that has additional Ice Pikmin waiting at the top.
The first thing you want to do before fighting the Puffy Blowhog is run to the right, use your Whistle and get these additional Ice Pikmin.
If you can, go over to the left and break the eggs to get Nectar to make all of your Pikmin stronger, too. Then when you're ready, it's time to fight. You can use your Ice Pikmin here to freeze the creature and bring it down quickly. If it gets back up, call your Pikmin back quickly to avoid them being blown away.
When you've beaten the beast, the gates will open and the Castaway will be released. Collect the Treasure that's located beyond the now-open gates.
Sphere of Family
And have 3 Pikmin take the Castaway back to the S.S. Beagle, where they'll be identified as Francois.
Found Francois
With everything completed in the cave, it's time to head back to the surface.
Back on the Surface
Return to the Paper Bag, and in front of you, you'll see a Treasure buried in the dirt and breakable pots behind it. Before you approach these, turn left and have your Ice Pikmin break the Ice Wall. Then send your Yellow Pikmin to collect the fruit and Rush with Oatchi to smash the pots.
Velvety Dreamdrop
When the Ice Wall is smashed, go through it and get your Pikmin to collect the Raw Materials on the left. On the right, there's a slop into a section where you can rebuild a Clay Valve. Have your Pikmin work on this, and it will turn off the Sprinkler just behind it.
Now head towards the bridge with the rest of your Pikmin and attack the flying Swooping Snitchbug. Assign Pikmin to rebuild the bridge, then go put the slope to the right. Here you'll see a second base you can unlock, with plants growing inside it. As you approach this plant, it will move and the frog-like Creeping Chrysanthemum will appear.
If you have a Bomb Rock or an Ice Blast, wait until it throws its tongue out then chuck a bomb at it. It will end up eating the bomb and either become frozen, allowing you to Rush at it and attack. If you use a Bomb Rock, this will immediately kill it. Doing so gives you access to the Sunwashed Plateau base.
Now cross the rebuilt bridge and attack the Waddlequaff. This will drop 3 Cherries.
Cupid's Grenade x 3
As your Pikmin take these back, go to the right of where the Waddlequaff was and take out the birds. On the left, there's a Potted Plant and strong wall. Assign the Pikmin and Oatchi to remove the Potted Plant, then equip your Bomb Rocks and throw 3 of these at the wall.
This will break it down and reveal a Leafling outside another cave. Jump inside and get ready for another Dandori Challenge.
Hotshock Canyon (Dandori Challenge)
You'll have 7 minutes in this cave to collect all of the Treasures and defeat all of the creatures. The best way to approach it is to get all the Pikmin in the map first, then you can work around the room. Divide the Pikmin so the Yellow Pikmin collect treasures up high and attack electric fences and creatures, while the Red Pikmin beat the dotty creatures and anything that breathes fire.
Beating this challenge will give you the fourth Leafling of the game so far.
Have your Pikmin take the leafling back to the S.S. Beagle, then turn right and back to the Potted Plant. Take out the bird then collect the Treasure on the right.
Go down the slope towards the first base (Fragrant Ravine) you landed at and move your base back here. Then continue down the path to the water (northeast).
Sweat-Soaked Blue Bird
Using 5 of your Blue Pikmin go right of the broken bridge and onto the small raised mound and look inside the train cart. You'll spot a Flarlic here that can be excavated and will increase your Pikmin party size by 10.
While those Pikmin collect the Flarlic, assign the rest of the Pikmin the task of rebuilding the broken bridge.
Flarlic
When it's done, cross over the bridge move your base for the third time. Take out an additional 10 Pikmin here, then continue on the path, and take out the Joustmite.
Go left and assign your Yellow Pikmin to break down the electric fence and go up the slope to the left. Defeat the birds and pick up the Raw Material. The warning for the day's end will come up, but use Oatchi to smash the pots.
This will reveal another cave that you'll be able to complete before the end of the day. Jump inside and you'll be in the Sightless Passage. This is what you'll need the Headlamp for, so if you weren't able to purchase it, you'll need to return to it later with the right gear.
Sightless Passage
There's only one level to the Sightless Passage but it's quite big. At the start of the level, turn around and head towards the south. As you walk through, you'll notice that illuminating mushrooms will appear and light the way.
Go left at the first chance you get and take out the Water Dumple. Smash the nearby pots, just to the west, and beat the second Water Dumple. To the left of this one, use your Red Pikmin to remove the fire. Behind it, there's a treasure for you to collect.
Masterpiece Plank
To the right, you'll want to go through the bars or throw your Pikmin through to get them to collect the Raw Material.
Now head to the eastern part of the cave, and go through the bushes towards the fire. Here you'll have to fight a fire-creating Pyroclasmic Slooch. But you can collect additional Red Pikmin from the pot on the right, and there's a Treasure just behind the creature.
Micromanagement Station
Leave this area and continue going up to the north, towards the electric gate. Have your Yellow Pikmin break down the grate and go over to the left. It appears there are many of the illuminating mushrooms here, but as soon as you approach, a mass of Mitites will appear.
Clear out the area, and have your Pikmin raise the twig in the ground to create a climbing stick and reach the Raw Material pile at the top. While they do this, go west and smash the pots with Oatchi.
Get your yellow Pikmin and throw the at the electric Anode Beetles, to unlock another base. Go north again. Look for the flames to extinguish them. Assign Yellow Pikmin to work on the ground and dig up the treasure, and then go left so you can go to the pot. Pick up the Raw Material
Heat Sensor
Go towards the east and build the ramp up the exit on the right. Then use Oatchi to rush toward the block on the left and knock down the castaway.
Found Pitunia
Continue east, extinguish the flames, and break down the wall. Then use the Electric Pikmin to fight the Shockcake, which will unlock the last base in this sublevel. Smash the pots with Oatchi to reveal a tunnel that only he can use. Switch to Oatchi and send him through the tunnel, then have him collect the last Treasure.
Hoop of Healing
When that's all done, head up the newly-constructed slope to exit the cave.
As you emerge from the sightless passage, quickly send 10 Pikmin over to the Paper Bag to lower it and create a shortcut that allows you to easily get back. Then make your way to the S.S. Beagle. If you don't get there in time, it's actually fine as any Pikmin that are riding on Oatchi will be classed as safe.
And with that, Day 5 comes to an end but there's still plenty of Treasures, Rescues, and Caves to find on Day 6.
