Exploration Day 23: Primordial Thicket - Final Battle Cave, Cliff-Hanger's Hold Cave, Oasis of Order Cave and Subterranean Swarm Cave

Welcome to IGN's Pikmin 4 Wiki Guide! This step-by-step walkthrough will take you through each day to 100% completion. On this page, you can find information on how to approach Day 23 and the focus on Cure Oatchi including details on finding crucial Treasures, missing civilian castaways, and more.

All Rescues, Treasures, Sublevel Caves, and Flarlic: Day 23

Below is a quick summary of all the treasures, rescues, and flarlics you'll be able to find on this day. You can find the step-by-step Walkthrough on how to do this further down the page.

Back at Primordial Thicket

As you land back at the Primordial Thicket, go forward and through the tree stump to the right. When you get to the bottom of the slope, go left, and back towards where the poisonous mushrooms and creatures were.

Up ahead, there's a path to build and a Flarlic to collect. Build the path, and while you're waiting, go right and have Oatchi rush at the mushrooms to make them pop. Clear out the poisonous mushrooms and sticky mold around the area.

Primordial Thicket Surface Flarlic

When the slope is completed, be sure to collect the Flarlic but ignore the area for now and go back to the mushrooms you just created a bridge with. Turn left after the mushrooms.

Turn left after the mushrooms, and you'll be face-to-face with a Grubchucker. Attack this so the area is safe, then go across the mud to pick up the half-buried treasure.

Delectable Bouquet

Continue up the slope to the left, then tackle the Moldy Bulborbs and pick up the pile of Raw Material. Cross over the mushroom bridge, and you'll be met by Louie and Moss who have Nell.

This will lead you into the Final Battle (Dandori Battle).

Final Battle (Dandori Battle)

The usual rules of Dandori Battles apply to this battle, too. Try to expand your Pikmin team as quickly as possible, then aim for bonus items and the Golden Sniffer.

Beating Louie in the Final Battle will mean you finally recover Nelle, who can help cure Oatchi.

Nelle

When you exit the cave, drop down to the left and continue clearing out the Sticky Mold. You'll want to pull out a Bomb Rock here as a Startle Spore will spring up in the middle of this.

Once you've cleared the area, look for the Gold Nuggets on the left.

Keep following the path and on the left, you'll see more Sticky Mold. Ignore this for now, continuing on to the gap on the left past the box. Turn left here and hop up on the steps to reach the mushrooms. You can use these to travel across and pick up the fruit treasure on the other side.

Mock Bottom

Turn toward the mud, and see the Raw Material pile. Collect this, and clear the swamp of any creatures. You'll see a treasure here in the middle of the swamp. You'll need 80 Ice Pikmin to get this, so you'll want to readjust your team of Pikmin to get it.

Return to the Sticky Mold that was ignored, and break through this. Throw your poison Pikmin at the creatures here, then turn left. There are steps going up to the top of this ledge, but they're just out of reach so Oatchi can't jump up here. Instead, throw at least 10 White Pikmin up to tackle the poison and push the box down.

Go back to where you jumped across to get the Mock Bottom, and this time go left to cross the box bridge. There's a Dandori Cave here, and the Pink Onion you need to bloom Winged Pikmin. Take on the Dandori Challenge first, then use your Pikmin to take the Pink Onion and the Leafling back at the same time.

Cliff-Hanger's Hold Cave (Dandori Challenge)

Once you're out of the cave and your Pikmin have started to move the Leafling and the Pink Onion, go to the wall that needs to be broken (continuing along the path you were on before the cave). Smash through the wall and you'll see the next place where you can move your base.

As you approach it, a Groovy Long Legs will come down that has to be tackled, giving you access to the base. Not only will you get access to the base once it's been defeated, but it will also drop a treasure for you.

Searing Acidshock

Move the base, then turn to the right and look for the small puddle of mud, with a Dandori Challenge cave on the other side. Either freeze the mud or run across it and use Winged Pikmin to retrieve the Leafling after.

Oasis of Order Cave (Dandori Challenge)

When you exit the Oasis of Order Cave, go in the opposite direction to the other small puddle of mud and the patches of Stickly Mold.

Clear these out, then follow the path around to the right. You'll soon see another treasure on the left, which is an avocado. You'll have to throw your Pikmin up to reach it and bring it back down.

Scaly Custard

Return to the S.S. Beagle, and jump up the steps behind it towards the Grubchucker that patrols behind it. This is just to collect the treasure that's up on the right, at the top of these steps.

Heroic Shield

Then drop down and fight the Grubchucker. Clear out the Sticky Mold, and you'll uncover the next sublevel cave. As you clear this area, mites will appear again, so be prepared for them and Whistle quickly to get your Pikmin to calm down. When you're ready, hop down into the final cave for the day.

Subterranean Swarm Cave

Go forward when you drop down into the cave. You'll see a treasure hanging above you, but you won't be able to get it just yet. Instead, go around to the Arachnode. Clear the Sticky Mold, then attack the Arachnode.

Once the web is down, pick up the pile of Raw Material just in front and go around to the left. This will bring you to another Arachnode blocking the entrance to the room with the Grubchucker.

Take down the Arachnode to get your first treasures of this cavern.

Hoop of Healing

Fight the Grubchucker, then use the Candypop Bud here to get some Purple Pikmin. When you're done here, continue to the other room on this level, which has another Grubchucker.

Take down the Grubchucker first, then clear the room of the Sticky Mold. Collect the pile of Raw Material, and grab more Purple Pikmin from the Candypop Bud. Turn right, back towards the S.S. Beagle and collect the last treasure before you leave this sublevel.

Sphere of Calm

Sublevel 2

Go right when you land in Sulevel 2. Disband and send Oatchi first, to take out the two Armored Cannon Lava, who are on the other side of the wooden stumps. You can then get Oatchi and the Pikmin to break down the mushrooms and go around to the other side to collect the two treasures.

Get some White Pikmin from the White Candypop Bud, and collect the pile of Raw Material. Then go to the right side of the room, which spirals all the way up. At the top, there's another Armored Cannon Lava.

Disband the group so you only go up with the Rock Pikmin, take out the Shearfleas on the way and then fight the Armored Cannon Lava at the top.

At the top here, when it's clear, pick up the bell to collect the next treasure.

Spouse Alert

With the final treasure collected, you can go down into sublevel 3.

Sublevel 3

In Sublevel 3, you'll face another battle against a Horned Cannon Beetle. Use your Rock Pikmin to plug the hole that air goes into as the beetle begins to suck in. This will cause it to open its wings and expose the soft part of its back. Repeat this attack pattern and charge at it whenever its wings are open for an easy defeat.

After the fight, it will drop a treasure and you'll be able to collect the Leafling buried under Sticky Mold in the northern corner.

Check the western corner for another treasure that's also buried.

Back-at-the-Beginning Track

Sublevel 4

Go right at the start of Sublevel 4, smash through the pots and take down the flying creatures to clear the area. Pick up the pile of Raw Material and make sure you smash the pots right at the top as well. You'll find a puzzle piece in the open, and a dice in the breakable pot at the top.

Chance Totem

Go into the next room on the left and attack the flying creatures. Pick up the Mega Horn, then go right to find a Candypop Bud.

Continue into the next section, breaking down the poisonous mushrooms and sticky mold to find a pile of Gold Nuggets on the left.

Finally, break down the wall and it's time to go into sublevel 5.

Sublevel 5

In sublevel 5, you'll be fighting against a Sovereign Bulblax. The best bet here is to try and use Bomb Rocks. Lure the creature into flicking its tongue at you, then throw the Bomb Rock at it so it ingests it and explodes. When it's stunned with this attack, charge at it and attack. Purple Pikmin and Rock Pikmin are best used here, as they'll do plenty of damage in a quick amount of time.

There are mushrooms in the room that you can hit to open up. If you're finding the fight lasts a while, the Sovereign Bulblax will start to jump and bring down rocks. You can hide under here to shelter from the attacks.

When it's defeated, you'll get another castaway dropped that you can rescue.

As you exit, you'll find the last treasure for the cave next to it.

When you get outside, the day should be coming to an end so round up all your Pikmin and get everyone back safely.
