Exploration Day 10: Serene Shores - Test Tubs Cave and Engulfed Castle Cave
Welcome to IGN's Pikmin 4 Wiki Guide! This step-by-step walkthrough will take you through each day to 100% completion. On this page, you can find information on how to approach Day 10 of the Emergency Mission: Rescue the Rescue Corps including details on finding crucial Treasures, missing crew members, and more.
Starting Day 10 - At the Rescue Command Post
Before you return to the Serene Shores, here are the things we recommend you do:
- Speak to Sy. This will begin the Side Mission Researching Onions. If you've already been following our guide, you will have completed 2 of these already and be able to start your third.
Researching Onions 3 begins.
- Speak to Muggs. This begins the Side Mission: Rescue the TV Crew
- Speak to Russ. New gear is avalable. Purchase Idle Counter for 40, Tuff Stuff for 40, Tuff Stuff+ for Oatchi 120
- Speak to Shephered. Learn Lv. 3 Chomp.
All Rescues, Treasures, and Sublevel Caves: Day 10
Below is a quick summary of all the treasures and rescues you'll be able to find on this day. You can find the step-by-step Walkthrough on how to do this further down the page.
Back at Serene Shores
From the Water's Edge base, go towards the eastern part of the map and into the water. You'll now be able to cross the bridge you built at the end of day 9. The first thing you'll want to do is collect the giant statue treasure.
Giant's Fossil
Then swim out and grab the pile of Raw Material from the bottom of the water. There are a few treasures here, and even a Flarlic to get, so clear the water out of any enemies. Then, go over to the banana on the other side and have your Blue Pikmin take this back to the S.S. Beagle.
Slapstick Crescent
Jump off of Oatchi and walk along the bottom of the water, toward the right-hand side of the water (if you're looking at it from the bridge). This will take you to a clamshell with a Flarlic inside.
Serene Shores Farlic
Once you've got this, go to the northern part of the water and enter the Dandori Challenge cave.
Test Tubs (Dandori Challenge)
For this challenge, you'll be using Blue and Rock Pikmin to clear the area in 6 minutes. As always, go around the area first and find as many Pikmin as possible, then have Rock Pikmin transport items on the surface, while the Blue Pikmin collect the underwater items.
Back on the Surface
When you leave the Dandori Challenge, continue north and go into the water. Follow this around to the right. Stop at the mound underneath the water and send 20 Blue Pikmin in to recover the treasure.
Newtolite Shell
Then continue on to the right to reach a small island. Have your Pikmin pull on both of the fishing lines, but be careful as you pull the one that needs 7 Pikmin to raise it, as this one will pull up a creature. The smaller fishing rope will throw up a treasure for you to collect.
Mystery Squish Fish
There is also another one that can be collected here from a clamshell, but it has to be past the halfway point for the day. As soon as the water drains, the clamshell with the pearl inside will appear. If it's not close to that time yet for you, make a note of the treasure and come back for it later.
Princess Pearl
Before you leave this section, excavate the dirt mound. Then, go toward the western side of the map.
Hop up on the path near the flowers, and right of the base. Turn right at the first alcove and excavate the dirt mound here. Then continue and turn right again. Make sure you have some Ice Pikmin in your crew here, so you can freeze the Hydro Jelly and smash it.
Collect the pile of Raw Material from being the jelly, then turn right. Simultaneously fight the fish, and have Blue Pikmin remove the sand pile under the water. This will drain the lake as soon as this happens.
When you've dealt with the creatures, go over to the larger Hydro Jelly on the ledge to the right. Freeze it and have your Pikmin destroy it to find another rubber duck.
Dapper Rubber Cutie
Go back to the base, then go south and back toward the broken bridge you rebuilt earlier. Cross the bridge and stop halfway. Jump down to the right, onto the path below and follow the water to another cave.
Engulfed Castle
The Waterwraith: How to Kill the Rolling Ghost Blob Thing Susceptible to "Gravitational Waves"
The Engulfed Castle features a terrifying enemy you cannot kill right away: This is because the Pikmin you need to kill it, Purple Pikmin, are only available in sublevel 5. Players may encounter the Waterwraith as early as sublevel 1, but some don't until 2 or 3. It pops out after you collect all treasures on a sublevel, but the timing is a bit murky.
Things will become trickier when the Waterwraith appears since you have to constantly avoid it and its rollers which will instantly kill Pikmin not mounted on Oatchie. This almost-invisible creature must be avoided until sublevel 5 where it can be destroyed by the new Purple Pikmin and their gravitational waves.
Go right first and deal with the first creature, then turn left and take out the Fiery Blowhog by the wall. When the creature is down, attack the wall. Hop up onto the ledge on the left, and you'll see a large creature on fire but asleep. Throw just one Pikmin at it, then quickly recall it.
Lure it into the puddle of water, then charge and throw all your Pikmin on it at once. When it's down, it will drop the next treasure.
Vanishing Cookie
Go right after this, and break the wall down so you can press the button and lower the iron fences. Spin around and get the lock from the end of the grassy path on the left, then turn right and right again.
Secured Satchel
Go to the end of this path and go left, then go left again and pick up the hoop. Then carry on along the path and go right at the end. As you walk forward, a Fiery Blowhog will drop from above, so keep an eye out.
Hoop of Passion
You want to go over to the right and get the last two treasures, but be sure to douse the flames of the creature so you can attack it safely before you try to collect them. With the last treasure acquired, you can go down to sublevel 2.

Sublevel 2
At the start of sublevel two, go left and take out the creatures. Then go left again and destroy the wall. Return back to the start of the level, and go the path ahead, destroying the wall that blocks it.
Continue along this path and you'll come to an open space with a few smaller creatures and one large one. Try to take out the smaller ones first, then throw all your Pikmin at the big one. This will drop two treasures for you to collect.
Crush Nugget x 2
Head over to the mushrooms in the far left corner and break these down to gain access to the broken pip. Follow the pip all the way along until you reach the room with the clamshell. Attack the clam to get it to release the next castaway, which happens to be Osa.
Osa
After collecting Osa, go right and send Oatchi through the tunnel. Keep going right with all the Pikmin and wait at the gates. Switch to Oatchi and get him to hit the switch, then drop down and rejoin the group.
The spiders that are in the tunnel will drop down as the Pikmin pass, trying to steal the rescue. Attack them and get everything delivered back to the S.S. Beagle. From the base, go left again, but this time take the path on the right that has now opened up. Go to the end and throw your Pikmin down, so they can begin digging. This will help you obtain the final treasure on this level.
Daughter of the Earth
Now quickly go over to the exit and go down into sublevel 3.
Sublevel 3
On sublevel 3, lots of the creatures will use electricity to sun your Pikmin. As you attack, watch out for the first signs of electricity and quickly pull your Pikmin back each time.
Go right first and hit the electric antenna. Follow the path on the right and destroy the wall at the end. Go left before continuing along, to collect the treasure, then carry on and take down the electric spider before your Pikmin carrying the treasure reach it.
Scaly Custard
Follow the path into the shallow pool of water and get rid of the enemy here. Then collect the potato from the water.
Child of the Earth
Keep going along the path, take out the electric antenna and then the half-buried creature. Destroy the wall on the right, go in and press the switch down, then follow the path on the left.
With the iron fences lowered, go into the center of the map and tackle the flying fish and spider here. You'll want to do this so you can move your base here. Pick up the nearby puzzle piece, then go back out and to the left, to enter the final room.
Memory Fragment (Bottom...Probably?)
In here, take down the frog, pick up the pile of Raw Material and then break down the wall to reach the next sublevel.
Sublevel 4
The first thing you'll notice as you land in sublevel 4, is the sticky good around the mushrooms. Send over some Pikmin to break it down, so you can move freely. Until you have the Gunk Busters, this sticky stuff will slow you down.
Pluck the Blue Pikmin from the ground, then go left. There are a few more Pikmin here for you to pull out of the ground, as well as a treasure, but first you need to clear the sticky stuff and take care of the creature. The problem with this creature is, it expels poison, so send your Pikmin over but be ready to call them back quickly.
When the sticky mold has been removed you can get the rest of the Pikmin and the train track piece. Watch out for the spider that will appear and try to steal it!
Turn-of-Events Track
Now go right and attack the next creature. Get your Pikmin to build the ramp for you so you can reach the next section. Once the ramp has been built, follow the path, take out the creatures and remove the sticky mold that's covering the exit for this level on the left. The Waterwraith will appear again while you're down here, so you'll want to be able to make a quick exit.
Jump off of Oatchi and go through the metal bars on the left to get the pile of Raw Material, then make your way back and break the wall on the left. Take out the next path of sticky mold, then go left inside the pipe to find the next treasure.
Velvety Dreamdrop
You want to continue following this path, but be careful as near the red mushrooms as this is actually a giant creature that will jump up as soon as you approach. Grab a bomb of some sort if you have one, and then get it to flick its tongue out and attack. Throw the bomb on its tongue, and you'll take it down swiftly. When it's dead, it will drop another treasure.
Insect Condo
Go on to the next set of mushrooms and be careful of the two spiders patrolling here. Both have Rock Bombs attached to them and will blow everything up if they get near you. Let them see you and chase you, then as the bomb starts to pulse move as far away from them as possible.
Break down the red mushrooms here and go inside to find the next treasure.
Difficult-Choice Totem
At this stage, the Waterwraith is likely to appear so get your Pikmin to return the last treasure safely. Stop them if the Waterwraith gets too close to them, circle around the area and come back to it if needed. Once that's returned to the S.S. Beagle, jump down into the final sublevel.
Sublevel 5
When you drop down into Sublevel 5, you'll see two purple Candypop Buds on either side of the room, and a Paper Bag. You need the weight of 100 Pikmin to drop the Paper Bag, so throw 5 of your Blue Pikmin in each purple bud. This will turn them into Purple Pinkmin, which weigh 10 Pikmin each.
Use the Purple Pikmin to flatten the Paper Bag, then approach the egg in the middle of the arena. As you might have guessed, the Waterwraith will land in it and begin to plough towards you. Use your Purple Pikmin to attack it. These will be able to emit gravitational waves, which will make the Waterwraith vulnerable.
There are two stages to the fight. During the first stage, it can be stunned easily and the rollers will be destroyed once it's been beaten down enough. In the second phase, it will run off. You can wait for it to get tired, or follow it and slam the Purple Pikmin into it. The fight is actually quite straightforward and just requires using the Purple Pikmin to make it vulnerable as often as you can.
With the creature defeated, it will drop a treasure. There is also one buried in the arena, shown on the map below.

With everything 100% complete, you can go back up to the surface.
When you get back outside, the day should be drawing to a close, but before you go back to the base go to the nearest Paper Bag and push it down to make a shortcut back to this area for Day 11.
