Palworld is much better enjoyed with friends and luckily it's one of the features the developers are keen on. As such, it cannot be more easier for friends to play together. However, it is important to note that the Steam version of the game and the Game Pass version of the game cannot play with each other as they are in different build versions and use a different server infrastructure.

As such, it might be better for you to ask your friends what version they're getting before buying yours to make sure you can play with each other.

How to Play with Friends in Palworld

To determine whether you should go with the Steam version or the Game Pass version, you need to ask how many are you and your friends. If there are 5 or more people playing, we suggest the Steam version as multiplayer servers in Steam use a Dedicated server that can host up to 32 players. If you're 4 and below, you can go for the Game Pass version.

However, if you want the best of the best, just get the Steam version as that version also seems to get the latest patches quicker than Game Pass.

How to Setup a Multiplayer Server

The first step in playing Palworld with your friends is setting up a server. Simply click on "Create a new world" and a server customization window should pop up after deciding on the World Name. In this window, you should see an option that says "Multiplayer". Turn it on by clicking "On" just beside it and there should be a few text that appears at the bottom text box.

After this, start your world and press ESC. There should be an invite code bar on your screen under the options tab. Once there, simply reveal the code and this is the code your friends will need to enter to join your server.

How to Join a Multiplayer Server

Once your friend has already set up a multiplayer server, go to the main menu and click on "Join Multiplayer Game". A window should pop up asking for the Invite code. Simply put the invite code provided by your friend who set up the multiplayer server and you should be able to play with them!

How to Join Multiplayer Servers on Steam

If you're playing on the PC Steam version of Palworld, you can join public or private servers by clicking on "Join Multiplayer Game".

You can choose between officially hosted servers or community servers using the menu on the left hand side. The main screen will show details of the selected server, including player count, ping, and server progression in in-game days.

If you have a private server IP, you can enter this IP into the box at the bottom of the screen and click 'connect'.
