Fastest Flying Mounts: Best Flying Pals to Unlock in Order

What's the fastest and most efficient way to get around in Palworld? By far, that's mounting the best and fastest flying Pal you can find, and while the all-around fastest is undoubtedly a late-game Pal that's essentially the early access version's final boss, there are other options out there to hold you over in the meantime.

Follow our guide to the best flying Pals in the game, including how and when to catch them, and how to unlock their saddles as well. But first, be sure to look out for the best traits to help boost that flight speed.

Best Flying Passive Skills

All Pal mounts have a Partner Skill allowing them to do so, and in many cases, you have to craft the Key Item to be able to use it. But all Pals can have anywhere between one and four Passive Skills. There are 60 potential Passive Skills, and you can judge if they're good or bad by the color when you look at a Pal. Grey Passive Skills are typically mild buffs, sometimes at the expense of a nerf to another stat. Gold is always a boon, with three arrows next to the name being better than only two. And red is always going to be negative.

For the purposes of a flying mount, you're looking for one of the following Passive Skills for a modest boost:

Nimble - 10.0% increase to movement speed
Runner - 20.0% increase to movement speed
Swift - 30.0% increase to movement speed
Legend - Attack +20%, Defense+20%, 15.0% increase to movement speed

Legend is a unique case as it is exclusive to Legendary pals, but it applies to one particular Pal that's easily the best mount in the game. (More on that later.)

While a fairly comprehensive list, this roundup does omit a few flying mounts for the sake of efficiency. In each listing, you'll see an icon of the Pal along with some basic information like its spawn locations and Partner Skill. Most importantly, we've also provided data for its base movement speed and sprint speed as data-mined by PalworldTrainer.com.

The best flying Pals to unlock in order are as follows, with suggested 'mandatory' Pals highlighted:

The best early-game mount can potentially be caught right around the starting area, but its spawn rates across an expansive habitat are fairly rare. Still, if you see a big bird in the sky, shoot it with an arrow to lure it into coming into combat range so you can catch it. Unlock its saddle at Level 15 in the Technology menu so you can craft it.

Vanwyrm

	Partner Skill Aerial Maurauder Can be ridden as a flying mount. Increases damage the player deals to enemy weak points while mounted. Base Speed: 700 Sprint Speed: 850

071 - Vanwyrm

Vanwyrm is the second flying mount you can come across. Not only is it faster than Nitewing in all metrics, but it's far more powerful in combat. The best place to catch Vanwyrm is around coordinates -115, -416 on the map, and its saddle is unlockable at Level 21.

Helzephyr

097 - Helzephyr

Helzephyr isn't a massive upgrade over Vanwyrm and is technically slower than Quivern, but its sprint speed is significantly higher. This Pal is nocturnal, so it can only be caught at night. By the time you hit 33, consider catching one because that's when you can unlock and craft its harness, but there are better options soon to come.

Helzephyr Lux

Beakon has an Alpha Boss location in the Bamboo Groves just southwest of the map's center, or you can find them in the wilds of the Northern Dessicated Desert. It's the first major upgrade in terms of flying mounts. And because you unlock its harness at level 34, it's a far better option than Helzephyr as your go-to.

Quivern

	Partner Skill Sky Dragon's Affection Can be ridden as a flying mount. Enhances Dragon attacks while mounted. Base Speed: 800 Sprint Speed: 950

095 - Quivern

Quivern has the sixth-highest base flight speed, tied with Ragnahawk, but its sprint flight speed leaves a lot to be desired. Catching it is fairly reasonable, however, as it spawns as a Level 23 Alpha Pal at coordinates -256, -131. It's excellent in combat, whether mounted or fighting on its own thanks to a moveset that capitalizes on several element types. Sky Dragon's Affection also gives a damage bonus to Dragon attacks while mounted. Even if you don't stick with it as a mount for long, it's still a top-tier fighter. The Quivern saddle is unlocked at level 36.

Ragnahawk

Once you've had your fun with Beakon, the next flying upgrade is to Ragnahawk. Its harness unlocks at level 37 and has better speed stats in both areas.

Faleris

	Partner Skill Scorching Predator Can be ridden as a flying mount. While fighting together, Ice Pals drop more items when defeated. Base Speed: 1000 Sprint Speed: 1400

If you've hit level 38 — the level the Faleris harness becomes unlockable — then stop what you are doing to fly out to the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary in the northeastern corner of the map to catch one of these. Aside from the legendary endgame Pal Jetragon, Faleris has the absolute best stats and will be your best flying mount from level 38 to 50.

Suzaku

Suzaku's harness is unlockable at level 40, and it has an Alpha Pal spawn location in the southern area of the Dessicated Dessert. There's also an aqua variant you can breed that has a Water-type instead.

Shadowbeak

Of all the flying mount pals on this list, Shadowbeak is probably the most skippable. If you're making it all the way out to the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary to capture some pals, you're better off catching a Faleris instead — especially because Shadowbeak has inferior stats and its harness unlock far later at level 47.

Frostallion

	Partner Skill Ice Steed Can be ridden as a flying mount. Changes the player's attack type to ice and enhances Ice attacks while mounted. Base Speed: 1000 Sprint Speed: 1500

110 - Frostallion

Frostallion is a Legendary Pal that spawns at level 50 east of the Land of Absolute Zero teleport point around coordinates -357, 508. There really isn't a better Ice Pal in the game, and even if you don't use it as your primary mount, it's an absolute beast in combat. But since its harness unlocks at level 47, you might as well hold out for a Jetragon instead. Like with Suzaku, you can breed an alternate-type version of Frostallion called Frostallion Noct (it's Dark-type).

Jetragon

	Partner Skill Aerial Missile You can ride on its back to fly. While riding, you can continuously fire with a rocket launcher. Base Speed: 1700 Sprint Speed: 3300

Palworld's endgame Legendary boss Jetragon is hands-down the absolute best mount in the game, but it's a tough fight on Mount Obsidian. Its saddle unlocks at level 50 and requires a ton of materials, but once you have it, you'll never fly faster in the skies of Palworld.
