Best Pals for Kindling
Of the 12 potential jobs that you can assign a Pal in your Palworld base, Kindling is arguably one of the most important. Without a Fire-type pal stoking the fires or furnace, you won't be cooking any food or refining Ore into more important metals. Every Pal has "Work Suitability" ratings that roughly correspond to their type and physique. A Pal needs hands to do Handiwork, and the larger the Pal, the more likely it is to be good at tasks like Transporting or Mining that require a lot of strength. When it comes to Kindling, however, things are pretty straightforward.

Passive Traits to Look For
When it comes to Kindling — and any other work tasks in your base — there are a few Passive Traits you should look for in a good worker. You don't need them, but they'll always help.
- Artisan - Work speed increases by 50%
- Conceited - Work Speed increases by 10%, Defense decreases by 10%
- Dainty Eater - Hunger decreases 10% slower
- Diet Lover - Hunger decrease is 15% less likely
- Lucky - Work speed increases by 15%, Attack increases by 20%
- Positive Thinker - Sanity decreases 10% slower
- Serious - Work speed increases by 20%
- Work Slave - Work speed increases by 30%, Attack decreases by 30%
Assuming your Kindling Pal is strictly working at that task and never in your party, you don't have to worry about the negative effects of something like Work Slave. And anything that reduces hunger and improves sanity is going to help any Pal in all circumstances.
Best Early-Game Pals for Kindling
Every Fire-type Pal can at least attend to any Kindling tasks. The very first you're likely to collect include Rooby and Foxparks. The best place to find Rooby is Marsh Island northeast of the starting area between levels 1 and 10. Foxparks can be found just northeast of that on Eastern Wild Island, but also in some areas just northwest of the starting area.
It's a good idea to pick up one or both of these for your early-game Kindling needs, and while there are other Pals out there with level 1 Kindling, they're not necessarily worth it for the Kindling alone.
Best Mid-Game Pals for Kindling
By the time you reach level 20 or so, it's time to track down some Pals with level 2 Kindling Work Suitability. An easy way to do that is to hatch a Large Scorching Egg that you find somewhere in the wild. (Use IGN's map to track them down.) If you've already hit level 30, then you can venture to Mount Obsidian. In the northeastern part of the area, you can encounter Wixen and Pyrin, along with Pyrin Noct at night. Gobfin Ignis can be caught on the west-northwest area of Mount Obisidian.
Here's a closer look at all Pals with level 2 Kindling and the easiest way to obtain each of them.
- Wixen - Breed Celaray with Lamball/Cattiva/Cremis/Vixy
- Bushi - Catch the level 23 Alpha Pal at the Sealed Realm of the Swordmaster
- Kitsun - Breed Gumoss + Sweepa OR Rooby + Penking
- Pyrin Noct - Catch in the northeastern section of Mount Obsidian at night
- Pyrin - Catch in the northeastern section of Mount Obsidian during the day
- Arsox - Breed Penking + Direhowl OR Rooby + Mossanda/Nitewing
- Gobfin Ignis - Breed Rooby + Gobfin
Aside from getting lucky with hatching random eggs, farming Bushi at the Sealed Realm of the Swordmaster is your best bet for getting a Pal with level 2 Kindling ASAP. And if you're high-level enough to comfortably catch Pals in and around Mount Obsidian, then there are already far better options out there than the other Pals in this section.
Best End-Game Pals for Kindling
Faleris and Suzaku also happen to be some of the best flying mounts in the game, and you can easily breed Faleris at pretty low levels if you work towards breeding Anubis first ASAP. Consider starting there when it comes to a late-game Kindling Pal. Reptyro and Blazamut double as excellent miners as well, drifting between Mining and Kindling. The Blazehowls are also solid at Lumbering whereas Ragnahawk is also good at storing.
- Faleris - Breed Vanwyrm + Anubis OR catch at high levels in the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary between level 40 and 45
- Suzaku - Catch the level 45 Alpha Pal in the southern Sand Dunes or in the wilds in the same area between level 40 and 50
- Blazamut - Catch the level 49 Field Boss in the Scorching Mineshaft OR at No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary between level 40 and 45
- Reptyro - Breed Cryolinx + Grintale/Penking OR catch in northeastern Mount Obsidian between levels 30 and 40
- Blazehowl Noct - Breed Blazehowl + Felbat (boss at the Sealed Realm of the Abyssal Nights)
- Blazehowl - Breed Penking + Melpaca/Eikthyrdeer/Mozzarina/Dumud OR catch on the western side of Mount Obsidian between levels 30 and 40
- Ragnahawk - Breed Elizabee + Mossanda/Nitewing OR catch on the western and southern sides of Mount Obsidian between levels 30 and 40
Each of these Pals has a lot of utility in your party as a combat mount and/or in your base. Ragnahawk, Blazamut, and Faleris are the best overall considering their other work suitabilities, but it's a bit of a moot point when the single best Pal for Kindling can be caught closer to level 40.
The Best Pal for Kindling
Without question, there is no better Kindling Pal than the Volcanic Emperor himself, Jormuntide Ignis. It's the only Pal that has level 4 Kindling, making this not even a contest. If it's a Kindling king you are looking for, then head to the No. 2 Wildlife Sanctuary on the island north of Mount Obsidian to farm Jormuntide Ignis. You'll never need another firestarter.
