7 Things to Do First in Palworld
Palworld is an open-world survival game developed by Pocket Pair. Just like other modern games in the genre, Palworld can be pretty confusing as they take a hands-off approach aside from the few requirements that they suggest throughout your playthrough.
But you don't need to worry as this guide will help get you started in the world of Palworld!
7 Things to Do First in Palworld
Gather Materials
Most things in Palworld follow a pretty straightforward process which starts with gathering and ends up in a product from the materials you've gathered. After taking your first steps into the world of Palworld and unlocking the Fast Travel point in front of you, you should start walking around and picking up woods, stones, and Paldium Fragments.
These three are the building blocks of Palworld and will help you get started with crafting essential structures like Crafting Station, chests, and Pal Spheres. They can be found lying on the ground but can also be chopped from trees and for Paldium Fragments and stone, mined.
In addition to this, do not forget to gather food! Berries can be found abundantly out in the open world and some of the Pals that you kill, such as Lamball will drop food that you can cook to prevent your character from getting hungry.
Unlock Technology
In Palworld, you have Technology Points that you should spend to unlock a variety of structures. To unlock technology, press Tab on your keyboard and you should see a technology tab at the top part of your screen. Click on it and you should be greeted with a selection of structures to unlock as well as the points needed to unlock them.
For starters, we recommend unlocking the Crafting Station, Pal Sphere, and the Chest.
Craft a Pal Sphere and catch a Pal!
A Pal Sphere in Palworld is used to capture Pals which are creatures that roam around the open world. These pals have their own traits and can be very helpful in making things easier for you in your base. Some pals have the ability to transport items from the ground to your chests, while others have the ability to mine Stones and Paldium Fragments for you.
The best early Pal to catch is Cattiva since they have the ability to mine, transport goods, gather berries, and even help in crafting items in the crafting station. As you progress through the game, you'll find more Pals that can do more work in your base so make a habit of checking their traits to see what type of work they can do!
Upgrade your Stats!
Whenever you level up, you receive stat points that you can use to upgrade your character's HP, Stamina, Attack, Work Speed, or Weight that they can carry. For starters, upgrading your HP will make you tankier if you're into fighting Pals full-time.
But we suggest improving your Stamina first as this will able you to swim and climb farther and be able to reach points that you couldn't before!
Sleep... or Not!
The key to surviving the first night of Palworld is to sleep it off. That's why a Bed and a House is needed. A house should be made first as a bed cannot be placed out in the open. During this time, you can also start customizing by putting chests inside your house or some Pal Beds if you want to.
Alternatively, you can also opt not to sleep and venture out into the wild trying to catch more Pals to build your Pal army. For this, you might want to craft a hand-held torch to keep you warm at night as well as your surroundings lit.
Build a Campfire
A campfire can be built in your base and should be built before night as it serves two purposes: to keep you warm and to cook your food. As such, it's a vital part of a base as it can turn your ingredients into food that staves off a lot more hunger than ones that aren't cooked.
As mentioned earlier, some Pals drop ingredients when defeated. Lamball drops Mutton that can be cooked and Chikipi drops eggs or meat which can also be used for cooking.
Explore!
After getting yourself settled, get ready to explore! Don't worry, you're easily able to teleport to your base and different parts of the map as long as you've unlocked the waypoints associated with them. As you explore, you'll meet more Pals which can make things easier in your base, and even meet NPCs that might help you.
There are also enemy camps scattered around the map. You have a choice of raiding these camps when you see them steal their loot and free a Pal they caught if they have one.
