Find Zahedi
- Search the First City for Zahedi.

Welcome to the Outskirts of the First City. At your makeshift camp on the hill, you will see a number of places to interact with. These are the same markers and options as you would have seen in the Rift Town Garage. You can chat to Jakub about what happened in the area, and then it's time to move out.
Head down the hill and around to the right side along the cliff edge. Along the way you'll find a small Iron Ore Deposit. Head up the hill to the fenced area, and get ready to fight.
- Clear the Outskirts
As this may be your first encounter since fighting Gauss, your World Tier may have increased since the last time you faught. If you're finding yourself getting overwhelmed in these fights, remember you can open matchmaking to let other people join you, or you can also lower the World Tier, at the cost of finding less rare equipment.
This Insurgent camp is a wide area with lots of stairs and buildings on the right hand side, and a Marksman posted up on a roof on the left hand side. Clear the enemies closest to you, and watch out for a Breacher moving up on you. Then try to take out the Marksman. You can do this by going left or right, as the right hand side has a view of the rest of the arena.
Clear out the remaining Riflemen, and then head down to ground level. By now, reinforcements will have arrived on the bridge where you need to go. Two Breachers will be moving up on you, supported by more Riflemen. Now is a great time to use your skills as the enemies will be clumped close together, and it will keep the Breachers from getting too close.
If you can, stay on the bridge until you've cleared all of the enemies. As soon as you step foot off the bridge, more enemies will spawn in close to you, as well as a new enemy type, the Ironclad.

Once the cutscene finishes, go back down the bridge a ways. A number of Cutthroats, Breachers and Marksmen have spawned in all at once, and will take you down if you are exposed. Going halfway down the bridge gives you enough cover from long range, and also funnels the Breachers and Cutthroats so that you can deal with them all in once place with your skills.
Now that you have a bit of room to breathe, take down any Rifelmen who are close to you while the Ironclad stomps closer. The Ironclad is similar in strength and health to the Vanguard Captain from the last mission, with a number of skills they can use. Focus on getting their health down with gunfire at a distance, and then when close enough, use some skills to lower it further. Try not to get too close as they will use Crash to do some damage if you are.
This will likely not be enough to kill them, so when you've used your skills, head up the stairs to the right of the arena to get some distance from the Ironclad and some healing by taking out more Riflemen. When you've cleared out the nearest enemies, go back to focussing on the Ironclad to get their health down.
Once the Ironclad is down, take out any Markmen that might be left before clearing out the rest of the grunts. When you're ready, move up the hill towards the blue-glowing Anomaly Distortion.
Head forward through the Anomaly Distortion and take in the scenery. Once you get to the top of the hill, turn left and enter the building through the ramp. There's an ammo box in front of the doorway too.
- Clear the Hilltop
This is the start of a longer combat sequence, so it will be important not to over-commit, just to make sure that you don't have to repeat the whole sequence. Head out of the Anomaly Distortion and take out the Riflemen in front of you from cover. When you can't reach the enemy or there are none left, move up slowly. There are lots of enemies to come, so moving forward slowly is important.

Once the first Riflemen are taken out, stay put, as a number of Breachers and Cutthroats will be making their way straight to you. Take them out from your vantage point, and watch out for the Breachers death grenade.
Once the Breachers and Cutthroats have been dealt with, you will need to deal with the outpost in front of you. There will be many enemies inside, so use any area of effect skills to take them down. When it's empty, move up to the outside of the building, making sure to take down any enemies in your line of sight before moving forward.
The next area includes a lot of enemies. If you need to retreat, the building that you just cleared out provides a natural chokepoint for the enemies in front to confront you from, making your life a little bit simpler. Head out, and watch for Breachers moving up on you. You will also notice amongst the Riflemen that there is a Captain in the distance. This guy will move up on you quickly, so take out the weaker units that you can before the Captain closes in on you. When he does, head back to your bunker for cover.
The Captain has a healing skill as well as Beam Traps, so it's good to take him out first. When separated from his group, he should be easy to focus fire. Don't be afraid to lay into him with your skills either.
Once down, more Breachers will spawn in, and there will still be a large number of Riflemen in the distance. Take the Breachers out quickly, and then focus on slowly pushing up through the cannon fodder. Watch out for the occasional group of Cutthroats coming through as well. Once down to a select few, you should be able to clear the remaining Riflemen without worry.
- Open the Gate

That was a long fight! Now's a great opportunity to see if you received any good loot along the way. While reminiscing about Earth, open the gate, and then place down an explorer flag just down the ramp. Stock up on ammo and then head down the left path. Watch along the wall to your right for Iron Ore Deposits.
- Clear the Gallows
As you move out from beside the wall and down the hill, you'll move into another combat arena. This is an arena with multiple central buildings in the middle with lots of cover. However, there are several Marksmen here, so you might prefer not to jump right into the middle of the action as they will definitely have an angle on you.
You can start the fight with any area of effect skills you might have on this initial cluster of 5 or so enemies. It will be much faster than trying to shoot them down. You can move forward here by going through the middle structure, or to the buildings on either side of the arena. These side buildings will allow you to see most areas without being too vulnerable, and are ideal if you have longer range weapons.
Asides from the Markmen, it's just Riflemen to back them up here, so take them out however you like, and remember to retreat if your health gets low or your skills need to recharge.
- Retrieve the Key and Open the Door

Pick up the key from the last enemy you killed, and do any looting you need to before going to open the door to the next area.
- Rescue Zahedi.
Through the building, you will find a view of the radio tower. That means Zahedi is close. Just below the path in front of you will be another Iron Ore Deposit. In the buildings to the left there is also a Loot Chest. When you're ready, head up the hill, and refill your ammo on the way.
As soon as your character mentions how quiet it is, get ready for a fight.
- Clear the Area.
Right away, prepare to take cover and deal with a Breacher who is already in close with his Shotgun. Take them out before picking off Riflemen. Be cautious of stepping to far forward, as there is a Juggernaut Captain waiting to spawn once you take out enough goons.
This Captain is much like the Ironclad we met earlier, except with more dangerous Altered Skills. His Wandering Flame attack will create a fire tornado that follows you around the map. This flame isn't as powerful as Gauss' Lightning Storm, so if you get clear and away, you should be alright. If you have been forced to move into a bunch of enemies, use your skills to clear the field and give yourself some breathing room.
If you are relatively safe, start trying to take down the Captain. This Captain will heal himself, others and also cast skills to keep you at bay, so taking him down is a must. Don't forget, if he's about to cast Wandering Flame, you can use an Interrupt skill to stop the cast.

Once you have cleared enough Riflemen, at least 5 Breachers will come out at once and rush you down. If the Captain is low, take him out. If not, try to get far away from him so that you only have to deal with the Breachers for now. There's lot of them, but they will be grouped up, so use your skills to damage as many of them as you can at once.
Because the Breachers all come out at once, it's important to stay away from the building where they spawn, as they can destroy you with next to no notive if you happen to be standing where they will spawn in.
Once the Breachers and Captain have been dealt with, clean up the remaining Riflemen and loot up. It's time to rescue Zahedi. Head to their small building and open the door on the left hand side of the room.
